Andy Cohen plans to “party harder” on this year’s “New Year’s Eve” show in light of CNN’s desire to have quiet coverage.
The 54-year-old, along with Anderson Cooper, has co-hosted CNN’s “New Year’s Eve” Show since 2017. It’s become a rite of passage for the hosts to drink booze while they chat on the show. With just days left until the end of the year, CNN is moving to ban drinking on the show.
However, the “Watch What Happens Next” host has a response for CNN, as he intends to break some rules.

The host shared a clip from an episode of his hit show “Watch What Happens Next” on Instagram, where he responded to CNN’s new rules. The clip begins with Cohen giving the Jackhole of the Day spot to a Variety article with the headline, “CNN Plans to Sober Up Boozy New Year’s Eve Coverage.”

The producer continues to show the important part of the article. In his words, “The article shows that Anderson and I are still allowed to drink. So, we can all say this for my peace of mind.” He then jokingly shared a clip of himself from last year’s broadcast shouting, “Sayonara, sucka!”
After that, he motioned for the camera to zoom in on his face. With the camera zoomed in on Cohen, he enthusiastically emphasized his plan.
“I just want you to know Anderson and I will be partying harder than we’ve ever been before on New Year’s Eve!” he screamed. “Do you understand me?!” At this passionate declaration, his audience clapped loudly and cheered him on.
In a Variety article referenced by the author of “Superficial,” the Warner Bros.-backed news outlet. Discovery wants to cut down on some festive traditions in its coverage of the show’s final night of the year.
While Cohen and Cooper will be allowed to drink while they host the show, reporters and other anchors will be asked to delay the rehearsal.
This sobering update comes after CEO Chris Licht revealed to employees in a Nov. 15 town hall meeting that “he feels drinking on camera erodes the credibility of CNN staff and damages the “respect” they may enjoy among viewers.”
In recent years, viewers have watched “Bravo” hosts and Cooper bring the show to life. Last year, the writer used the New Year’s Eve platform to denounce former New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio.
