Ankita Agarwal was born in Bihariganj, Bihar. He did his primary education at Modern Public School, Bihariganj, Bihar, after which his family moved to Kolkata. He continued his schooling in DPS, Kolkata. Later, Ankita completed her studies in the field of economics from St. Stephen, Delhi. Since her school days, Ankita wanted to become an IAS officer.

UPSC
Before completing UPSC 2022, Ankita worked in Indian Revenue Services (IRS) while she passed UPSC AIR 236 in 2019, however, she wanted to become IAS so she gave her third attempt and secured AIR 2. Ankita did her Civil Services exam preparation from a reputed coaching institute which located in Rajinder Nagar area of New Delhi. Ankita chose political science and international relations as her elective subjects. In 2019, Ankita attended a mock test interview conducted by Shubra Ranjan IAS study Pvt. Ltd. Ankita scored 1050 marks out of 2025 marks in UPSC 2022.
Corporate Sector
Ankita works with a corporate company named Dalberg, which is a development advisory firm in strategy and policy, where she worked for almost a year.

- Ankita likes to read books. The Lives of Others by Neel Mukherjee is one of her favorite books.

- In an interview, talking about public service preparation, Ankita said, I prepared through self-study and guidance. I believe both play an equally important role in a candidate’s life. Apart from basic books, I keep up to date with current affairs and read newspapers and monthly magazines.”
- During the interview, Ankita stated that after joining the service, she wants to work for women empowerment, primary health and school education sectors.
- While stating his reasons for pursuing his career in public service, he said that I was clear about my goals and therefore chose not to enroll for an advanced degree. I worked for a year and then plunged into UPSC preparation. I qualified in the exam in 2019 and got into IRS but my aim is to join Indian Administrative Service. So I appeared again in the exam in 2021. This is my third attempt,”
- When asked about his preparation and success mantra, Agarwal said,
I used to devote maximum time to prepare for exams. Instead of putting in a fixed number of hours, I try to maintain a sustainable study schedule”.
- During her college days, Ankita was a part of Campus Placement Cell and Finance & Investment Cell. He is also the editor-in-chief of the Yearbook Editorial Team and has joined the economic association.
- In 2015, Ankita participated in a two-month summer internship at CRY (Child Rights and You), an Indian non-governmental organization working to ensure children’s rights and in 2016, she participated in another 3-month summer internship at Pratham, which is a non-governmental organization working towards providing quality education to underprivileged children in India.
- Ankita also represented her college in basketball, however, in her final year of college she met with an accident and stopped playing.
- Ankita revealed in an interview that she left all social media platforms during the preparation of her public service.
