Anna Faris is getting more candid about when she thought about retiring from acting.
The “Scary Movie” cast appears in this week’s issue PEOPLE magazine to promote his new film, “The Estate.”
In addition to promoting the new film, Faris also talked about the time he took a break from acting.

The end of her career came after she left the CBS sitcom, “Mom,” in 2020 just before its eighth and final season was due to air.
She played recovering alcoholic Christy Plunkett’s TV series for seven seasons starting in 2013.
When Faris made the decision to leave “Mother” she said in a statement, “Seven years ago Mrs has been one of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career. I am so grateful to Chuck, the writers, and my wonderful cast mates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. Although my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I will be watching next season and supporting my TV family.”
Faris said of his departure, “it felt like the first time I didn’t step on the gas.”
At the time, Faris “felt competitive, felt comparison.”
Anna Almost Retired From Acting Together
“On Mrs, which is really rewarding in very different ways, all very accurate. Sitcoms are very surgical, and there is no room for such games. It’s all very choreographed. The dialogue is very accurate,” he said.
The actor knew it was necessary to take a step back, and it ended up being a relief to Faris that he considered retirement.
“I was like, ‘Do I have enough money to retire?'” he admits.
Well, we know now that he decided not to retire.
“I really started thinking about where I wanted to go career-wise,” he explained. “And I’m sure enjoying all that free time.”

Faris is taking time away from the silver screen to bond with her son Jack (10), who she shares with her ex-husband, Chris Pratt, and her new husband, Michael Barrett, and her two children from a previous marriage.
He made the leap back into acting earlier this year with “The Estate.”
The film is an adult comedy about two sisters (Faris and Toni Collette) competing with their cousins (played by David Duchovny and Rosemarie DeWitt) to attack the will of their terminally ill aunt (played by Kathleen Turner).
Working on “The Estate” Rejuvenates Anna
Her character in the film is very different from the blonde character she liked before.
“There’s freedom in playing with mean people,” Faris admits. “The emphasis for most of my career felt like the likability factor: ‘Is he likable?’ That always felt like a spell. So, I enjoy playing Savanna. It nurtured something in me.”
He loves his co-star, Collette, tells PEOPLE, “It was a dream to work with Toni, and a lifelong goal. So, when the script came in and Toni was attached, I was like, how can I be a part of this? How can I be a part of this?”
Faris explained that filming “The Estate” “felt really rejuvenating. It made me so excited, and I haven’t felt that way in a long time.”
