He was born in 1973 in Areeparambu, Cherthala, Alappuzha district, Kerala, India. Anoop is a great actor and is known for his comic roles. He did many hit films which received him huge fame like Rasathanthram (2006), Classmates (2006), and Shakespeare MA Malayalam (2008). He is also a social activist and involved in many social issues. He is currently a part of the popular reality show Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 1.

Career
Anoop Chandran attended Cherthala South Government High School, Cherthala and completed his studies at NSS College, Cherthala. After graduating, Anoop began training in acting from the School Of Drama & Fine Arts.
He got his first break in 2004 in Ranjith’s Malayalam film Black as Pauly. In 2014, he judged the comedy reality TV show Lunars Comedy Express which aired on Asianet. In 2017, he received the Asianet Comedy Award for Best Actor for his role in the TV series Aluvayum Mathicurryum.
In 2018, Anoop participated in the controversial reality show Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 1. He was paid ₹70,000 per day to be in the Bigg Boss Malayalam house.

Controversy
- In 2013, Anoop was arrested for disrupting a Youth Congress meeting in Cherthala. In the same year, Youth Congress supporters lodged an FIR against Anoop alleging that he had engaged in a fight with them and used abusive language. Later, they withdrew both complaints.
- In 2017, she claimed that actor Dileep, who was arrested in the case of kidnapping and sexual assault of an Indian actress, had tried several times to destroy her film career. During the investigation of the case by the Special Investigation Team, he said in the statement “Dileep’s anger has affected his career.”
