Anthony Anderson Emerges Host Of 75th Emmys, Taylor Swift Was ‘Unavailable’

Anthony Anderson will host the 75th Emmy Awards live from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles on January 15, 2024, on Fox.

On Wednesday, the Television Academy took to social media to announce that Anderson will handle hosting duties for the upcoming Emmys. Alongside an image of the “Black-ish” star looking dapper in a black two-piece tuxedo, the professional services organization wrote in the caption:

“We are thrilled to announce Anthony Anderson as host for the #75thEmmys! Watch the #75thEmmys on Monday, January 15th, only on @foxtv! ?✨.”

Within hours, the post garnered hundreds of likes, with several more heading to the comments section to celebrate the news. While one fan claimed, “He’ll be better than Colin Jost and Michael Che,” another exclaimed, “Excellent choice!” and the third asserted, “This will be good.”

“Okay now that’s a good choice,” said a fourth Instagram user, and a fifth declared, “This year is going to be lit ?.” Anderson herself spoke about the prestigious gig in a statement, sharing:

“With the recent industry challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and respecting ourselves. And there is no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the success of the 75th Emmy Awards.”

The father of two added that when Fox contacted him “to host this historic broadcast, I was so happy that Taylor Swift wasn’t available, and now I can’t wait to be a part of the biggest night on television.”

Choosing Anderson to host the show, it turns out, was an easy decision for Fox, as Allison Wallach, head of unscripted programming at the network, praised her recent initiative in taking over as host of the new game show “We Are Family,” replacing Jamie Foxx .

It was through that that he knew the 53-year-old would be “just right for a star-studded and anticipated night like the Emmys.” Wallace explains further, per Daily Mail:

Perry is best known for portraying the witty and funny Chandler Bing in the popular series “Friends”. He also had recurring roles on the legal dramas “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight” and earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his standout performance on “The West Wing.”
