This Halloween scare came a week late.
An anthropologist rummaging through a thrift store in Florida on Saturday found what is believed to be a human skull, authorities said.
The grim discovery was made in the Halloween section of the North Fort Myers store, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

“Based on detectives’ observations at the scene, the skull is believed to be a human skull,” the sheriff’s office said.
The case is not suspicious, the sheriff’s office said, but more tests from the medical examiner’s office are expected.
The store owner told investigators the skull was in a storage unit purchased several years ago, authorities said.

There are other examples of human skulls landing in thrift stores.
An employee at a Goodwill store in Arizona discovered a human skull while going through a donation in September, authorities said at the time.
Back in 2014, a human skull was donated to Austin, Texas Goodwill, according to reports.
It was at least the fourth skull given to the nonprofit that summer.
