President Biden told business leaders on Wednesday that former President Donald Trump is an “existential threat” during a three-stop New York City fundraising tour that was marred by anti-Israel protesters blocking Fifth Avenue outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
“There is an existential threat: it’s Donald Trump,” the 81-year-old president said at his first stop of the day — an environmentally-focused luncheon at the Upper West Side home of Larry Linden, a former Goldman Sachs managing partner.
“He’s going to try to undo everything we’ve done… We can’t let that happen,” Biden told about 17 invited guests, also saying in his speech, “There’s only one existential threat we face in the world: and that’s the environment .”
Businessmen whose environmental projects align with Biden’s subsidy and incentive program are expected to attend, including Earthrise Energy director Reuben Munger and David Elenowitz of Zero Carbon Partners, Bloomberg reported.
Bain Capital senior adviser and former co-chairman Josh Bekenstein, real estate tycoon Dan Tishman and hedge fund founder Mark Gallogly are also expected to attend.

The second fundraiser was held at the decadent Mandarin Oriental Hotel near Columbus Circle and hosted by Dr. Ramon Tallaj, chairman of SOMOS Community Care and member of Mayor Eric Adams’ COVID-19 recovery task force.
JPMorgan Managing Director Nikul Patel is expected to be among the 200 or so guests, as is investor Michael Sonnenfeldt, chairman and founder of Tiger21, an organization that describes itself as “the premier peer-to-peer learning network for former high net worth. generational wealth creators in North America and Europe.”
At the second event, Biden implored his audience to “imagine the nightmare of Trump’s return.”
“You are the reason Donald Trump is a losing former president. And you’re the reason we’re going to make Donald Trump lose again,” Biden said.
A wire reporter was present for the speech tweeted that Biden coughed during his speech and then said, “I’m sorry, I swallowed some cough medicine.”

The president also praised New York Governor Kathy Hochul, who was in attendance, telling him, “You’re an incredible governor.”
“He has absolute integrity,” Biden added of Hochul, who has come under scrutiny for a $637 million state contract to buy COVID-19 tests from political donors, more than double the going rate.
As he spoke, several dozen protesters camped out on Fifth Avenue during rush hour, blocking Biden’s third fundraiser to protest his support for Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas terrorists who killed about 1,200 people and kidnapped about 250 others. in a surprise attack on Oct. 7

Asked if he was thinking about possibly getting arrested for harassment, he said, “We’re going out.”

“I’m trying to be careful with arrests because I still have to work but if letting my voice be heard has some chance of stopping the war, then I have to try,” he said.
The president sparked a different kind of war at his third fundraiser — calling for more US aid to Ukraine as the two-year anniversary of the Russian invasion approaches. His request for $60 billion in new aid to Kyiv stalled in Congress.
Russian President Vladimir Putin “is in front of him and what do we do? Going backwards? Stepping back?” Biden asked at one point.
Biden is doing the fundraising as he seeks to maintain his large cash advantage over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who is leading in most national and state polls despite facing up to four criminal trials before the November election.
