Anti-Israel protests on US college campuses are ‘gaslighting Jews,’ says deputy mayor of Jerusalem

Jerusalem’s deputy mayor visited the Big Apple this week, where he delivered a stern message for American colleges and those “so-called liberal justice warriors” rallying in support of Hamas: Stop lighting the gas and start thinking critically.

“Parents pay a lot of money for their children to be indoctrinated and taught the opposite of critical thinking, which is what universities should be. This is not critical thinking. It’s brainwashing,” Fleur Hassan-Nahoum told The Post Wednesday.

Violent anti-Israel protests have erupted across college campuses in the US after Hamas terrorists killed 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians, in a devastating sneak attack on Oct. 7 — forcing the Jewish state to retaliate and protect itself.

The rally has seen sickening messages plastered on campus buildings and antisemitic chants, including, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

“What we see on college campuses is the result of decades of indoctrination. You can be a social justice warrior for any minority on earth except Jews and Israelis because somehow it’s not racist when you punch up instead of down,” he said.

“There is a cognitive dissonance,” he added. “Israelis cannot be human, cannot be victims, so if you attack and kill them brutally, the attack is justified.”

Hassan-Nahoum, who visited New York City to learn how the city rallied in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, said the demonstrations “shined the Jewish people.”

“They are trying to whitewash the call for genocide. I learned a new term — gas ignition. That’s what this one is. Project what you did onto the innocent victim. They blamed the Jews to make us believe it was our fault,” he said.

“We don’t have apartheid, they do. There are no Jews in Gaza. We went in 2005. They can build Dubai. They ended up building Beirut,” he continued.

“Real racism is the racism of low expectations. When you make them victims who can’t control their own destiny, that’s real racism. They were offered the state four times. We left in 2005. They built a terrorist base instead of a beautiful country. That’s what they have to decide. Do they really want their country or do they want to destroy our country?”

Ironically, he added, there are no pro-Palestinian marches in Arab countries that have made peace with Israel.

“I had a lot of Arab friends who came out in the first few days and said, ‘not in my name,'” Hassan-Nahoum said.

“There is not a single march in any modern Arab country that has made peace with Israel. Ironically, the Western world and its so-called liberal values towards young people who are off the streets… It’s ironic that I get phone calls of support from Emirati, Moroccan and Bahraini friends — and not so-called liberals. fighters for justice in the West.”

Hassan-Nahoum also said this to students who support Hamas, a terrorist group that systematically disenfranchises women and the LGBTQIA community: “In this non-binary world we live in, they have to get out of their binary notions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

Almost as many US college students support Hamas as they do Israel amid the raging Middle East war, according to an alarming recent survey.

An online poll of 609 college students by Intelligent.com found that 22% of respondents sympathized with Hamas while 26% sided with the Israeli government.

This means that about 1 in 5 college students support militia groups officially designated as terrorist organizations by the United States and the European Union.

“This just shows how stupid people have become,” Hassan-Nahoum said.

After spending Tuesday in Washington, DC with 300,000 peaceful pro-Israel protesters, the Israeli pol headed to the Big Apple – where he stopped at Caffe Aronne on the Upper East Side.

The Jewish-owned eatery has become a gathering place for Jewish New Yorkers and Israelis in need of support and community.

Hassan-Nahoum wanted to visit New York City to see how it was recovering after the devastating 9/11 terrorist attacks.

“We can learn from the recovery of the city, from how you remember it well and how when you have to attack and destroy the monster that did this to your city, everyone supports you and we appreciate America’s support for us to eliminate our own monster,” he said.
