Antonio Brown Defends Kanye West Over Anti-Semitic Comments

Instagram and Twitter suspended Kanye West’s accounts within days of his anti-Semitic comments. He has also made headlines after his controversial “White Lives Matter” shirt and his comments on the death of George Floyd.

Since then, many of his business partners have also cut ties with the rapper, including Adidas, leaving the rapper no longer a millionaire. Ye’s net worth, according to Forbes, is now in the $400 million range, down from his previous net worth of $1.3 billion.

Many celebrities have spoken out, defending the Jewish community, saying they can’t just stay silent after hearing Kanye West’s comments.

However, one star, Antonio Brown, defended Kanye West.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown defended Kanye West, who also went by Ye, when he decided to stay on as president of Donda Sports, which he joined last year, saying, “the world’s outrage at the reactionary and selective comments in the media made by my brother, Ye, has ignited and sparked widespread conversation and reflection.”

He continued, “The people and brands that relentlessly profit from Black ideas and Black culture choose to distance themselves at a very specific time: a time that shows their preference for certain groups over others. No one those of us in this world who are free from judgment, yet we live in a time where scrutiny and pessimism have pushed our dialogue on cultural issues toward diatribes.

The former NFL star concluded by saying, “Sensationalism and groupthink have forced people not to speak their minds and to act in fear instead of love. For these reasons, I stand by my dedication to freedom of speech, thought and opinion. I remain loyal to Donda’s mission and our amazing staff and community. I remain committed to bringing new ideas, experiences and designs to our world. I remain supportive of the humanity that is Ye.”

After making some anti-Semitic comments, Kanye West admitted he caused pain to Jews, but did not regret what he said. Speaking to Piers Morgan for a two-hour interview for his upcoming TV show, Piers asked the rapper, “Do you now regret saying, ‘Deathcon 3 on the Jews?’ Do you regret saying that?”

Yang Ye replied, “No. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. Absolutely not,” she replied, but Piers insisted “you should.”

Piers said Kanye’s “deathcon 3” comments were “as racist as anything you say you’ve been through and any pain you’ve been through.”

“Racism is racism. You know that, I think, don’t you?” Morgan continued, to which Ye said, “Yeah, that’s why I said it. I fight fire with fire. I’m not here to be bothered. That’s a different kind of freedom fighter.”
