Anu Sithara Pulivetti Salam was born on Monday, 21 August 1995 (age 27 years; in 2022) in Kalpetta, Wayanad, Kerala. He completed his schooling at SKMJ Higher Secondary School, Kalpetta, Wayanad, Kerala. He pursued his undergraduate studies at WMO College of Arts and Sciences, Muttil, Kalpetta, Wayanad, Kerala. She is a professional dancer, who furthered her studies with Mohiniyattam as her main subject in Kerala Kalamandalam. She is interested in dancing and started a dance school (Navarassa) at her home in 2020. In an interview, she revealed that her mother’s friend Renjini played an important role in Anu’s acting for the Malayalam film Pottas Bomb 2013. Renjini had forwarded Sithara’s picture to the film crew and then Anu was invited to an audition and got the role.

Anu Sithara got married to her long-term boyfriend Vishnu Prasad in 2015. In an interview, she revealed that she met him for the first time while studying in twelfth standard. She added that she was initially hesitant to fall in love with him when he confessed his love. However, they later started dating. They had to convince their families for more than a year until their parents allowed them to marry each other.

Anu Sithara made her debut in the Malayalam film industry as a child artist with the Suresh Achoos directorial Pottas Bomb (2013).

She did a cameo as ‘young Thulasi’ in Sathyan Anthikad’s 2013 Malayalam romantic comedy Oru Indian Pranayakadha. In 2016, Anu Sithara was cast in the film Happy Wedding where she played the role of ‘Shahina’. Her breakthrough came in 2017 when she was cast as Malini in Ramante Edanthotam directed by Ranjith Sankar; Anu Sithara plays the lead role opposite Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban in the film. He received appreciation and critical acclaim for his performance in Ramante Edanthotam.

In 2018, he was cast as the lead actor in the biographical sports drama Captain directed by Prajesh Sen; the film is based on the life of former Indian national football team captain VP Sathyan. Anu Sithara played Anitha Sathyan, VP Sathyan’s wife, and her character was well received by the audience.
