Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., said President Biden could “do more” to persuade voters to re-elect him, instead of focusing on attacking former President Trump.
Ocasio-Cortez made the comments during a Sunday morning appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with host Kristen Welker. He argued that Biden should be more aggressive in providing free health care and college education for Americans.
“You’ve said in the past that it’s not enough for Democrats to just talk about what they’re against,” Welker began. “Do you think, at this point, President Biden is doing a good enough job of explaining to voters why they should vote for him and not just against former President Trump?”
“I think we can definitely do more to advance our vision,” Ocasio-Cortez replied. “I believe we have a strong vision that we can execute.”
The AOC later gave Biden some credit, referencing his pledge to codify abortion protections if Democrats hold the House, Senate and the presidency.
“I think we can do more,” he added, however. “I think we need to talk more about health care. Of course, I, as a progressive, would like to see the Medicare age lowered, either to 50 as the president has discussed before or to zero, as is my preference.

“I believe we can do more. We can talk more about the fact that public colleges and universities should be tuition-free or reduced,” he added.
Ocasio-Cortez went on to confirm that Biden is the strongest Democratic candidate to run against Trump, though she offered the caveat that he is the strongest in the current Democratic field.
The current field includes only Marianne Williamson, self-help author, and Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., who launched his campaign in protest of a serious lack of a Democratic base.

Ocasio-Cortez has been highly critical of Biden in the past, accusing him of “moving to the right” in April of last year. Before Biden announced his re-election campaign, the AOC declined to say whether he would endorse him.
