Aoki Lee Simmons shared some emotional and surprising information about his father, Russell Simmons, co-founder of Def Jam.
In two recent Instagram posts, she made it clear that she needs help but won’t accept any.

The model and recent Harvard University graduate shared some troubling information about her father on Instagram in an emotional video.
“My father is not well, for years, he needs help and will not accept that refuses to admit he is not himself. He has threatened and bullied my sister, my grandmother, he has harassed my grandmother in the middle of the night in poor health, sent a man to my sister’s apartment at 2am to scare her,” her caption began.
Her caption went on to explain that he had threatened her and other family members several times.
“He slammed ANYONE who didn’t say ‘oh Russell everything is fine’. Well it’s not good. If ‘I never get a fashion job again’ as she threatens, I’ll be a lawyer I guess and work in criminal Justice. Sure I love my job but if he takes it away from me I won’t die. You didn’t threaten my sister, grandmother and mother and say ‘who’s going to believe you, I’m Russell Simmons, nobody thinks I’m crazy’ you’re right.”

In the video, Aoki Lee appeared distraught and struggled to speak through tears.
“I also want to come here and say that, among the many people who are close to him and who have experienced how he, I mean, just lashed out at anyone he could and completely changed that person. A lot of us felt that maybe something was wrong. , like mentally, I don’t know. He’s older, I don’t know. But he’s completely changed,” she said through tears.
“I’ll come here and talk about whatever I want, it’s my life and I’m suffering, so. He has completely changed. The couple texts I just received, that’s just the beginning. I will go through them. I don’t want to send a ton, but if he tries to say that doesn’t happen, I have screen recordings, I have voice memos, things that it doesn’t sound like a human being. He was like screaming and screaming, I mean, he sounded possessed.”
Aoki Lee went on to explain that he felt his father must be dealing with some kind of mental illness because he wasn’t like this in the past and everyone was really close before.
“I will say, I’m not sure that it’s to his credit, but the best explanation I have is that something mental happened because I used to be very close to my father. He used to be a good coparent, close to my mother, my stepfather, he was the godfather to my younger siblings, we all went on vacation together every year. Like very close, well, after a divorce. Everyone is very happy,” he continued.
“When he has a business venture, my mother will invest in it. Good friend. He will come to live with us, we will come to live there, like all the time, everyone is together. And then really, he suddenly just decided that if we don’t agree, it’s, ‘Oh you’re all bi*** like your mother, I hate you. All these bastards are the same.’ He’s just a different person.”
His story goes on to include several examples of things his father has done in the past such as withholding money when he was out of Greece camping.
He says he understands that this all sounds crazy, because it is. Aoki Lee says his dad was so good to him but then completely changed, and he wonders if his dad is struggling with some kind of mental illness crisis.
He shared some screenshots of recent text messages on Instagram Stories. Despite knowing there was a possibility of losing the modeling gig, Aoki Lee wrote on one of the screenshots of the text message, “I’ve had enough. I know I might lose my job or whatever I don’t know, I’ve always been a daddy’s girl you can see in any picture. But he’s been mean to me over the years and that’s just the truth.

In the following IG Story slide that includes more text conversations between father and daughter, he added, “It’s like talking to a mean son or something. and no he didn’t support me financially he didn’t give me a dime for years. I didn’t have a graduation present, a birthday present, just like HAVING A TAXI for years.”
In another IG Story slide of the text exchange, he explained that he tries not to take sides in legal matters, but even so, Russell has “directly harmed” Aoki Lee.

After sharing a few more Stories of texting conversations, in the last one, she added, “If I block him or a little bit of space, he’s going to harass my boyfriend, my friends, literally college students. Kids.”

After sharing her emotional video in which she explained what was going on with her father, she shared a screenshot of a call between the two.
“These are not people who will receive help. This is just a screenshot sorry I don’t always remember to press “record” when he calls my friends, my boyfriend, whoever, for the opportunity to threaten and curse and go crazy,” she captioned the video.
Although there is no sound in the video, it is quite clear what is happening in it. No doubt that he went on and shouted.
Many people took to the comments section to share their concerns for Aoki Lee and his family.
“Baby girl, please seek personal professional advice and medical advice as well. This level of repeated seen and unseen abuse is dangerous, at any age.
