Darshan is a fellow theater actor, a chartered accountant and also a stockbroker at the National Stock Exchange. We got married when I was 18 and he was 21. We have different ideas and believe in different things. After the birth of our daughter, we did not work together. But that’s because we’ve decided that one of us will take care of it. He needs his own space and time but whenever we need him, he is there. I never talk about my personal life and never will. I don’t think even Darshan wants to talk about it.”

They have a daughter named Khushali Jariwala, an actress and a playwright.

Theater

When Apara Mehta was a ninth grader, he accepted an offer to take a small role in the Gujarati drama Sasuji Ni Sawari. He later performed in many Gujarati theater plays, including ‘Khalel’, ‘Ajatshatru’, and ‘Pati Name Patangyu’. In an interview, Apara Mehta spoke about his journey in theater and said,

“I always enjoy doing Gujarati plays and really admire people like Asit Modi, whom I know because of my association with Gujarati theatre. He is a maker with a vision. It thrives, and something with a history of more than a century will not disappear overnight. But I feel that new stage actors, especially, should come to Mumbai and explore more options, which will help.”

I did some great work even after my character died on Kyunki. I had an important role in Saat Phere, and then I came back with Balaji for Karam Apna Apna. But yes, people still see me as Savita and it is something I am proud of. After all, there hasn’t been a TV series on the scale of Kyunki and the show has given me a lot.”

In 2001, Apara Mehta made his debut with the Hindi film Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar (2001). Some of her other Hindi films are Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001), Devdas (2002), Just Married (2007), and Tees Maar Khan (2010).
