A man arrested Sunday as a person of interest in the slaying of Detroit synagogue leader Samantha Woll has been charged with her murder, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Michael Jackson-Bolanos, 28, has been identified as a homicide suspect, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy said during a press conference Tuesday, according to reports.

Jackson-Bolanos was a stranger to Woll, 40, Worthy said, adding there were “no facts to suggest” it was a hate crime against the Jewish leader, NBC News reported.

Woll, who served as board president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue, was found stabbed outside her home on Oct. 21.
Another was arrested in November in connection with the murder investigation, but was later released without charge.

Woll was killed as the US faced a wave of antisemitism following the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, but authorities have insisted throughout the investigation that the stabbing did not appear to be biased.
