Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud, a Democrat, said he had been invited to the meeting but was not interested in speaking with Biden campaign officials until Israel’s military operations in Gaza were halted.
“The lives of Palestinians are not measured in the number of votes,” Hammoud write on X. “Their humanity demands action, not lip service. When elected officials see the atrocities in Gaza as nothing more than an electoral issue, they reduce our indescribable pain to political calculation.”
