In a recent interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” legendary action star Arnold Schwarzenegger opened up about the challenges of aging and his dissatisfaction with his changing body.
He admitted to Stern: “I kind of smile because every day I look in the mirror and say, ‘Yeah, you suck.’ Look at this body. Look at those pectoral muscles that used to be taut, strong, and very strong with striations. Now they’re just hanging there. I mean, what’s going on here?”

He continued on the radio, “It’s sad too because, as I say to people, it’s one thing to see yourself getting older and out of shape, but most people are never in shape, so what’s the point of being out of shape? They always see s—– bodies, therefore, it becomes s—– as time goes by.”
The 76-year-old bodybuilding legend first addressed his dissatisfaction with his body in his upcoming book, “Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life,” in which he expresses a mixture of humor and sadness about aging.
Schwarzenegger described how he never expected to see his body the way it is now, stating that while it was “better than most bodies,” it was “painful” to see how much it had changed.

He said, “It’s just when you’ve been praised for years as this supreme body, and you have definition, and you see the veins down to your stomach, and you see the veins above your chest – you see all these things, and then now you cut, and you roll the clock forward 50 years, and now you’re standing there, and you don’t see it anymore.”
“So it’s like, wow, I never, ever thought about that when I was 30 or 40 years old, that this would happen, one day we would see this body, and it’s still visible. better than most bodies, but I mean, it just sucks,” the “Junior” actor said.

While chatting with Stern, Schwarzenegger reflected on a pivotal moment in his life, his heart surgery in 1997, which made him realize his weakness. “It was the first time I felt quite vulnerable,” she admits.
The surgery changed his perspective on exercise, with doctors advising him to be careful about lifting heavy weights and to be mindful of his breathing during exercise.
However, despite these challenges, the star of “Commando” conveys a positive outlook, embracing life’s changes.

“I just feel that when the challenge comes to me, I accept it because it’s the only option we have. In conclusion I am 76 years old, I am full of energy, I am full of enthusiasm. I am so enthusiastic and excited like when I was 30 years old,” he said.
The movie star continued, “I always see mountains in front of me to climb. So as long as I see those mountains, I keep my spirit and my excitement and the fire in my belly to keep climbing and climbing and climbing. And that’s what it’s all about.”

The former California governor expressed his deep admiration and affection for Stallone, stating: “I love him. He’s just a different person than me. He’s much more raw and more vulnerable and in touch with his emotions.”
Schwarzenegger noted that when Stallone “got mad, he just got mad.” Adding, “It’s like when you light a fuse — he goes right away. ‘Boom!’
Instead, he described his anger as slowing down: “I went, ‘Shhh.’ It took two days to get to the real explosion. It made him good at acting because he felt things immediately.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger On Actors He Looks To For ‘Inspiration’

Schwarzenegger acknowledged the valuable advice he received from fellow actors, often through observation. He cites Jeff Bridges and Sally Field, recalling their performance in the 1976 film “Stay Hungry” as sources of inspiration.
“[it] it was absolute heaven for me to watch them perform, how smooth they were and how much I needed to grow,” he said. “[I learned] to be natural, not to act. It made Sally Field start crying, crying, and throwing up. That’s really him.”
He also admires Clint Eastwood, sharing that he considers him an idol “because he’s a kind person.”
Schwarzenegger appreciates Eastwood’s no-nonsense approach: “His no-nonsense approach, that he can listen, I’ve always liked that. Because I always thought there was something to be said about listening.”
Schwarzenegger’s upcoming book, “Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life,” is set for release on October 10 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
