Miami police have confirmed the death of Konstantin Koltsov, former NHL player and boyfriend of Tennis star Aryna Sabalenka. When he died, Koltsov was in Miami to support Sabalenka at the ongoing Miami Open.

On Monday, the Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed the death of Konstantin Koltsov to People’s Magazine. Koltsov is a former NHL star and has been dating Aryna Sabalenka, the No. 1 tennis player. 2 current.
The police statement read, “According to investigators on Monday, March 18, 2024, at approximately 12:39 a.m., Bal Harbor Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to St. Regis Bal Harbor Resort, 9703 Collins Avenue, referring to a man who jumped from a balcony.”
They further stated that “the Homicide Bureau of the Miami-Dade Police Department responded and has taken over the investigation of the apparent suicide of Mr. Konstantin Koltsov. No cheating is suspected.”
Koltsov played professional ice hockey for about 18 years, starting with his draft to the NHL in 1999. He represented Belarus in major tournaments such as the IIHF World Championship and the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics. He officially retired from playing professional ice hockey in November 2016.

Koltsov’s death has also been confirmed by the team he had previously worked with. The news was first announced in a statement posted by Salavat Yulaev Ufa, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) team where he works on the coaching staff.
The statement read, “It is with deep sadness that we inform you that coach Salavat Yulaev Konstantin Koltsov has passed away. He is strong and cheerful, he is loved and respected by players, colleagues, and fans. Konstantin Evgenievich forever wrote himself in the history of our club.”
They also noted that he coached them to win the Russian Championship and the Gagarin Cup “and did a great job in the team’s coaching staff.”
The Penguins also posted a statement on their social media pages acknowledging Koltsov’s death. It read, “The Penguins extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Penguins forward Konstantin Koltsov.”
