Asha Parekh is an Indian actress, director and producer. He was one of the famous actors in Bollywood from the late 1950s to the 1970s. She is considered as the ‘Hit Girl’ of Bollywood. Because of her successful career in Bollywood, she was given the title of Bollywood’s “Jubilee Girl”.

Asha Parekh was born into a middle class Gujarati Jain Family. His father’s name is Bacubhai Parekh, who is a Gujarati Jain. His mother Sudha, also known as Salma Parekh, is a Muslim. She is rumored to be in a relationship with veteran producer and director, Late Nasir Hussain. However, she confirmed it in her autobiography, “The Hit Girl” that all her life she only loved Nasir Hussain.
Career
Parekh started his career as a child actor with the screen name, ‘Baby Asha Parekh.’ He acted in “Maa (1952)” at the age of 10.
He then left acting for his schooling. At the age of 16, she made her debut as a heroine in 1959’s “Dil Deke Dekho” with Shammi Kapoor, which made her a big star.
Asha made her Gujarati debut with the film “Akhand Saubhagyavati” in 1963.
He also made Punjabi films, the first of which was “Kankan De Ohle” in 1971.
He also made a Kannada film called Sharavegada Saradara in 1989. Asha made her debut as a television director in the early 1990s with the Gujarati serial “Jyoti.” He formed a production company named ‘Akruti’ and produced series like “Palash Ke Phool,” “Baaje Payal,” “Kora Kagaz” and the comedy series, “Dal Mein Kaala.”
Controversy
He once courted controversy over his censorship of films. She was criticized for her refusal to clear Shekhar Kapur’s “Elizabeth (1998)”. However, Asha said whatever she did was under the principles of the Law.

- Asha started performing in stage shows at a very young age. At one such event, Bimal Roy saw her and cast her in his film “Maa (1952).”
- She was rejected from Vijay Bhatt’s Goonj Uthi Shehnai (1959) in favor of actress Ameeta, with the filmmakers claiming that Asha was not star material.
