Ashwiny Iyer was born on Monday, 15 October 1979 (age 43 years; in 2022) in Mulund, Mumbai. He completed his school education at St Mary’s Convent, and later, he completed his higher education at SIES College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. Later, he went to art school; however, his mother was not satisfied with his decision.

Career
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari worked at advertising agency Leo Burnett for 15 years. He quit Leo Burnett to pursue his dream in filmmaking. He made his directorial debut with the film “Nil Battey Sannata (2016),” which was internationally known as “The New Classmate.”
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari directed the Tamil film “Amma Kanakku”, which was a remake of Nil Battey Sannata in 2016. Later, he directed the short film “What’s for Breakfast”. He won the Filmfare award for the 2017 romantic comedy “Bareilly Ki Barfi.” Soon after the success of Bareilly Ki Barfi, he received two film offers from Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures. In 2018, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and her husband jointly established a production company called Earthsky Pictures where she started directing ad films for the television industry. In 2018, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari directed the film ‘Panga’ starring Indian actresses Kangana Ranaut, Neena Gupta, Richa Chadda, and Jassie Gill. The film was officially released on 24 January 2020, and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari received critical acclaim for the film for challenging stereotypes in the film. In 2021, a web series titled ‘BreakPoint’ was directed by him on the lives of famous Indian tennis players Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi under his own production company. On 22 April 2021, at a press conference, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari stated that he will soon release a documentary film on the life of NR Narayana Murthy and his wife, Sudha Murthy.
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and her husband, Nitesh Tiwari, announced in May 2022 that they will release the young adult comedy drama Bas Karo Aunty!, starring Ishwak Singh and Mahima Makwana.
