At least 18 people were killed Sunday in shelling at a market in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian suburb of Donetsk, local officials reported Sunday.
Another 13 people were injured in the strike in the suburb of Tekstilshchik, said Alexei Kulemzin, the Russian mayor stationed in the city. He said that the shells were fired by the Ukrainian army.
Kyiv has not commented on the event and the allegations could not be independently verified by The Associated Press.
Emergency services continue to work at the scene, said Denis Pushilin, head of the Russian-installed authority in Donetsk.
Also Sunday, a fire broke out at a chemical transport terminal in Russia’s Ust-Luga port following two explosions, regional officials said.
Local media reported that the port had been attacked by Ukrainian drones, causing gas tanks to explode.
The fire broke out at a site operated by Russia’s second-largest natural gas producer, Novatek, 102.5 miles southwest of St. Petersburg.

In a press release to the Russian media channel RBC, the company said that the fire was the result of “external influences.” It also said it had stopped operations at the port.
Yuriy Zapalatskiy, head of Russia’s Kingisepp region, where the port is based, said in a statement that there were no casualties, but the district had been put on high alert.
Fontanka news outlet reported that two drones were spotted flying towards St Petersburg on Sunday morning, but they were diverted towards the Kingisepp region.
The Associated Press could not independently verify the report.

The Russian Defense Ministry did not report any drone activity in the Kingisepp area in its daily briefing. It said that four Ukrainian drones were shot down in Russia’s Smolensk region, and two more were shot down in Oryol and Tula regions.
Russian officials previously confirmed that a Ukrainian drone had been shot down on the outskirts of St. Petersburg on Thursday.
