Atif Aslam was born on 12 March 1983 (age 40 years; in 2023) in the city of Wazirabad, Punjab, Pakistan. His zodiac sign is Pisces. He started his kindergarten education from Kimberley Hall School, Lahore. When he moved to Rawalpindi, he studied at St. Paul’s Cambridge School, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. He continued his education from Divisional Public School when he returned to Lahore. He started FSC from Fazaia Inter College, Lahore. He studied at the Punjab Institute of Computer Science (PICS), Lahore to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.

Career
He started his career as the lead singer of the band named “Jal” in 2002. Atif gained a lot of fame through the band. The band first found commercial success with the song “Aadat” in 2003.
After leaving the group, Atif released his first solo album titled “Jalpari,” which turned out to be a huge hit.
He got his first break in Bollywood through Mahesh Bhatt, when he came to Atif to get his consent to add his song “Woh Lamhey” in the film “Zeher (2005).” He made his acting debut through the movie “Bol” in 2011.
Controversy
- Atif Aslam faced a backlash from the audience after he sang the Bollywood song, ” Tera Hone Laga Hoon” from the movie “Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahaani” at the Pakistan Independence Day Parade in New York. In her response to the haters who slammed her for singing the Indian song at Pakistan’s Independence Day Parade, she posted a photo of herself on Instagram saying ‘No Chance To Give Up’ and wrote that she loves her haters. He further added that he is a representative of his country’s flag and his fans know how he respects it. Pakistani singer, Shafqat Amanat Ali, also supported Atif by saying, “Music is not Indian or Pakistani. It’s just music.”
- It was on the set of “Sur Kshetra,” a singing reality show, which pitted India and Pakistan against each other, led by Atif Aslam and Himesh Reshammiya respectively; Asha Bhosle is judging the show along with Abida Parveen and Runa Laila. Asha Bhosle voiced her opinion about one of the Pakistani contestants on the show which led to a heated argument between her and Atif. Asha Bhosle walked out of the show and the makers of the show had to intervene to get Asha back in the show.
- The group, Jal’s album “Aadat” and Atif Aslam’s album “Jalpari,” shared certain songs such as “Aadat,” “Bheegi Yaadein” and “Ankhon Se,” which sparked a heated dispute between Atif and the members of Jal that resulted in both parties claiming ownership of the songs. The dispute was even taken to court. However, the court’s decision was in favor of both.
