Audrey’s company CMA CGM offered her a promotion in its China branch in 2017, so, she shifted from India to China with her son. Her husband, Kushal Punjabi had to stay back in India for his acting career. Kushal visits Audrey and Kian often, but their long-distance marriage begins to run into trouble. The couple decided to separate and get a divorce. Reportedly, Kushal was unhappy with his personal and professional life and suffered from severe depression. On 26 December 2019, Audrey’s husband Kushal committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his flat in Bandra, Mumbai. According to the Mumbai Police, Kushal had written a suicide note in which there was no mention of his wife, Audrey. Some lines of his suicide note are,
No one should be responsible for my death. 50 percent of my property shall be divided equally between my parents and my younger sister, while the remaining portion shall be given to the three-year-old son.”
Career
In 2005, Audrey Dolhen joined the London branch of CMA CGM, a French shipping and container transport company. In an interview, he said,
In Marseille, boats are part of everyday life. So when it came to choosing my path, the maritime sector naturally forced itself.
He worked there for almost five years. In 2010, he was offered to work in India in the sales management division of CMA CGM, Mumbai. On 1 January 2011, he landed in Mumbai to lead a team of 150 employees at CMA CGM. He said in an interview,
I had never set foot in this country before, and suddenly, I was leading a team of 150 people. I really need to prove myself. The young woman’s mission is to reorganize the sales organization in a country that is still very patriarchal. I was quite well received because I was labeled more as a Westerner than a woman. That’s what, I think, helped me to push myself.”
Soon after, he was appointed as the General Manager of the company. In 2017, CMA CGM, China restructured and offered him a position in commercial management in China. She agreed with him and moved to China with her son. In 2018, he was promoted to Chief Commercial Officer at CMA CGM China.
