Babak Khorramdin is an Iranian filmmaker who was killed by his parents on May 16, 2021, and according to media sources, it was a case of Honor Killing.

Babak Khorramdin was born in 1974 (age 47 years; at death) in Iran. He obtained his master’s degree in film at the College of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, Iran. In 2000, he completed a one-year filmmaking course at the Iranian Youth Cinema Association, Tehran.

His father’s name is Akbar Khorramdin, and his mother acted in one of his short films. He has a younger sister who was killed by his parents. Babak Khorramdin is not married.
Career
In 1999, he worked for the cinematic culture center “SHAFAGH.” He teaches acting and filmmaking students, and some of the topics he teaches are:
- Analysis of Krzysztof Kieslowski in the “ZAMIR” group of culture and art in the Iranian youth cinema society
- Film director course taught at the University of Cultural Cinema and Scientific Applied Arts, since 2014
He wrote screenplays for various short films such as ‘Gate 13,’ ‘Beautiful Mouth and Green Eyes,’ and ‘Contrast.’
Babak worked as a writer and director in various Iranian short films such as ‘The Cut’ (2003), ‘The Sun’ (2010), ‘Beam of Light’ (2010), and ‘To Be’ (2018). He has a membership in Iran’s Khaneh Cinema as a director.

Death
On May 16, 2021, his parents stabbed him to death after drugging him. Reportedly, Babak had an argument with his parents because he was not married which angered his parents, and after a heated argument, his parents brutally killed him. Later, his parents confessed their guilt in the local court. His father said,
Because of our disagreement, I anesthetized him this morning (Sunday) by giving him anesthetic, then stabbed him to death. Then I cut his body and threw it in the nearest dustbin on the street with my wife.”
At the time of his death, his colleagues, friends and former students shared heartfelt posts on their Instagram accounts. One of his friends, posted,
Babak is a filmmaker, and a few years ago I often met him in London’s cultural and artistic circles. I heard that he misses his family and has returned to Iran, and now I see this horrible news, and I can’t believe it. Terrible time.”
