The former ‘Bachelor’ has long been candid in sharing his experiences with mental health since leading “The Bachelor” last year. The conclusion to Echard’s season of the reality TV series inspired a lot of controversy.
The 29-year-old’s decision to jointly end his relationships with Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia at the same time, before pursuing self-eliminated third place contestant Susie Evans, would result in heavy criticism, sending Echard into a deep depression.
Echard will share snippets of the hateful direct messages she received after the season finale of ‘The Bachelor’ in speaking engagements, and will eventually write a book focusing on her mental health experiences.
To fully recover, Echard will eventually reconnect with Recchia; the duo’s reunion inspired headlines on Bachelor Nation when the former couple starred in several TikToks posted by Recchia and Michelle Young.
Recchia would later respond to fan speculation about their relationship, revealing she had sought “healing and forgiveness” amid her reunion with Echard.
Now, Echard has revealed his side of the story. Read on to find out where the former Bachelor stands with his ex!

Earlier this month, The Blast shared the deets on Recchia’s Instagram story statement regarding her reunion with Echard.
Without directly addressing the rumors, Recchia took a selfie sitting in a car with the top down, writing, “you ask me dedd all fun,” before adding “healing and forgiveness are lessons I’ve had trouble learning. for a long time. “
The 26-year-old will then share the title of ‘Bachelor’ with Windey on the next season of “The Bachelorette.” She will end her season in heartbreak after ex-fiancé Tino Franco confessed to cheating after their engagement.
Echard will take heart and channel it into writing a book. The Blast covered some details about his book, which is titled “180 Degrees: On Mental Health, Mindfulness, and Unlocking Self Belief.” It was released last month.
The new writer will also share more details on Instagram, writing, “I wrote ‘180 Degrees’ partly for myself, as it was therapy to document my mental health journey from childhood to now. It’s long overdue for me to deal with the jumbled thoughts in my head and begin to sort them out bit by bit.”
She continued, “I also created it in hopes of helping others find their own self-love, self-confidence, the confidence to open up and start having conversations centered around mental health, and most importantly… the peace that they’re not alone. …”
Echard also opened up about his relationship with Recchia

Echard’s relationship with Recchia was memorable with a tearful Recchia telling her ex that she would be “haunted” by his decision to break up with her.
If she was feeling any ‘haunting’ feelings, they seem to have been taken care of after the two’s reunion, which she discussed during her appearance on Our Weekly’s “Here For The Right Roses” podcast on Tuesday.
Echard describes “There’s a lot of healing there,” when talking about his relationship with Recchia. The duo hadn’t spoken for “years” before their recent reunion, according to the outlet.
“The conversation was very strong,” Echard continued to detail. “I walked away from the experience and I just remember thinking like, ‘Man, this feels so good. And I’m so glad to know that even someone like him- after everything that happened- everyone who was mad at me, [but] no one could be angrier at me than him or Gabby. So for him to forgive me and tell me that, ‘Hey, I understand, and I’m not going against you anymore,’ that was probably one of the best things I could have heard…,” Echard went on to explain.
“They have nothing [reason] to forgive me, but if he can, then everything I’ve done can be forgiven,” he continued, “And I can grow from this, and I can allow myself to forgive myself. If they forgive me specifically, I should be able to forgive myself. And that’s what I did,” he concluded.
There is no word on whether Windey has publicly forgiven Echard. The “Dancing With The Stars” alum got engaged at the end of her ‘Bachelor’ season to Erich Schwer, but the two later called off their engagement. Schwer recently announced he was in a new relationship.
