Those who are a part of The Bachelor Nation know that every season is claimed to be “the most dramatic season” – although Zach Shallcross will not follow suit and instead, says that it will be “the most emotional season.”
“It may not have been the most dramatic season, but it was the most emotional season they’ve had,” Shallcross tells PEOPLE. “But that doesn’t mean there won’t be drama this season. There is no shortage of drama.”
When asked how he felt about handling this season, the 26-year-old told PEOPLE “there were some situations where I think everyone could have handled something better,” however, he felt he handled “everything in a way that felt right.”
“I follow what’s right for my heart and my gut,” he said.
“I went to all this to find my best friend, to find my future, and you can’t force that,” he continued to explain. “If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen. Otherwise, no. If you let your heart think about it, the right things will happen. I really believe that.”

Fans weren’t thrilled when Shallcross was announced as the next lead as many felt he lacked personality, however, he now claims Bachelor Nation fans will get to see a new side of him.
“Fans will see my full personality because I wear it on my sleeve,” Shallcross said. “With last season, that shouldn’t have happened. I think I’m going to surprise some people about who I am.”
What Shallcross Learn From Rachel Recchia?

Shallcross went blind after Fantasy Suites during Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey’s season, but all is not lost as she learned valuable lessons from her time with Recchia.
“I think the most important thing and something that I’ve tried to keep throughout the season is really encouraging all women to be open with their feelings with everything,” she said. “Having a constant line of communication, always open and exposed through it all so there’s no opportunity to turn a blind eye.”
