On Tuesday afternoon, Josh took to Instagram to share a video proving to his 458 thousand Instagram followers that he’s not dead! “Hey everyone, as you can see, I’m alive and well. My account has been hacked for the past 24 hours, I have been desperately trying to log in.”

“Someone is playing a cruel joke and making fun of my mental illness and my struggles with depression and suicide attempts and I’m sorry for all the pain they caused when they posted that. I just logged back into my account,” he continued.

“I will do everything I can with my team to try to identify who is behind this but, again, I apologize for the confusion and I will update you as more facts come in,” he concluded. “Thank you all.”

Although the statement was taken down, it was picked up by People magazine, which stated that the reality star’s death had been “confirmed by her family” through a statement posted to social media, which Johs has now revealed was false.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of Joshua’s unexpected death,” Seiter’s “family” said in the post. “As all who knew him can attest, Joshua was a very bright light in a dimming world.”

“His fearless voice and tireless spirit helped thousands of people in their darkest moments feel less alone,” they continued. “While our heartache over Joshua’s passing hurts us deeply, we are comforted knowing that he is finally at peace.”

The statement also includes a phone number for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for “anyone who is experiencing a mental health crisis and needs help.” The statement went on to say, “We hope and pray that his spirit lives on in the pictures and words on these pages, which we will leave for now. As we do so, we would like to ask for privacy as we grieve.”

Josh has worked as a model and adult film actor after coming out as bisexual earlier this year. In addition to being more open about her sexuality, she’s also been candid about her mental health struggles. In an Instagram post, he admitted, “I am a survivor of a suicide attempt. I battle OCD, Bipolar Depression, and GAD, but I refuse to give up.

In another Instagram post on July 5, she wrote, “When I was 21, I was completely catatonic and committed to a psych ward. When I was 22 years old I tried to take my own life. At 23 I underwent electric shock therapy. Later that year I harnessed every ounce of strength I had and applied to law school.

“At the age of 25 I graduated from law school at the top of my class. By 30 I was one of the most followed mental health advocates online and one of the top creators on OF,” he continued. “At the age of almost 36, life is almost perfect. Never give up. Your story hasn’t been written yet. Each chapter leads to a more perfect ending. I promise.”

One of his latest Instagram posts was shared just five days ago. It featured a selfie of him smiling into the camera. “Surviving depression and anxiety one day at a time with a smile,” she wrote in the caption.

Unfortunately, Josh wasn’t the only victim of the death hoax. Earlier this year, social media sensation Lil Tay became the victim of a death hoax after a statement was posted on her Instagram page announcing that she and her brother had passed away. Luckily, he and his brother are alive and unharmed.
