Olubeko sat down with Bachelor Nation to talk about the historic moment, stating that, “It means a lot. It’s such an amazing position to be in, and we’re both so grateful to be in a position to show this love to everyone. That was not his intention. We both went this way with love, but to end up with Black love is really the cherry on top.
He went on to say, “It’s bigger than that, actually. It showed America and the world what Black love looks like. Hopefully we can break some of the stereotypes that some people still hold to this day. We are grateful for the opportunity and grateful to be in this position. We just want to be a reminder that Black love can be healthy and beautiful.
Charity Lawson chimed in, agreeing with her new fiancé. “It means a lot, and in my wildest dreams I could not have imagined this journey going the way it did and to find love like this. For that being Black love is an inspiration.
He continued, “I’m really excited and hoping to hear from the audience at home. The outpouring of love and messages have been shared that we’re inspiring people and that’s the best thing possible, really.”

The Integrative Physician took to social media days after the live premiere of “The Bachelorette” to share a sweet message to his fiancee, Charity Lawson.
“It’s a dream story… some days I still can’t believe it’s reality itself. But it feels like there’s a lifetime of heart and soul between us,” he began.
“Through it all we have formed an unbreakable bond that has culminated in a once-in-a-lifetime story of serendipity,” he continued before adding, “And consider this just the beginning. There is much more to be had, felt and built.”
Olubeko ended the heartfelt message with, “You have revived my passion to enter this next phase of life. And I’m excited to do it together, with you. I love you.”
Charity Lawson also took to Instagram to share a few beautiful pictures of herself and her new fiance Dontun Olubeko, along with sweet messages.
“In all my senses, I know. How grateful I am to have found an inimitable love,” he began before adding, “This has not been an easy journey at all. But through it all – grace. You have shown me, with the healthiest way, how to accept and love fully again. I can’t wait to live this life with you.”
Lawson concluded with, “Here’s to living our own real life fairy tale!!! I love you ?❤️?.”
