After the climax of “The Bachelorette,” Charity Lawson and Dontun Olubeko went on “Good Morning America” ​​to discuss their journey together, where Olubeko admitted she didn’t want to perform.

“I get chills when I think about it,” Olubeko said on “Good Morning America”. “I will never be able to express how grateful I am for the strength that exists, that unites us.”

He later admitted, “I don’t want to do it [the show], but something kept telling me to do it. My heart breaks open just thinking about it!”

Olubeko also went on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, co-hosted by Bachelor in Paradise couple Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt, and admitted, “Honestly, I [The Bachelorette] just two weeks before filming begins”.

“It was a very short period of time, apparently one of the shortest, I’ve been told,” he continued before adding, “It was just a coincidence where someone dropped out and someone thought of me to fill that role.”

Olubeko said her friend actually recommended she go and try out for the show, which is when she “jumped at the two-week point.”

“So I went through that [casting] the two-week process, and I’m a little unsure if I’m actually going to go through with it. It is so [last minute]I didn’t have time to think about it,” he explained.

After she watched Charity Lawson on Zach Shallcross’s “Women Tell All” episode, that’s when she really decided that this was the right decision for her. “It was really seeing Charity on The Women Tell All for Zach’s season,” she admits. “I watched it because they were going to announce the Bachelorette, and I was like, ‘Great! Maybe this will change my mood or change my decision,'”

During Dotun Olubeko’s Fantasy Suite appointment with Charity Lawson, the Integrative Physician admitted to Lawson, “You said you were looking for your husband, right? Umm, so this is kind of funny. I really don’t know much about the show.”

He went on to say, “So I didn’t really understand what happened at the end of all this — until maybe three or four weeks ago. I asked one of the men, ‘What happened?’ And they were like, ‘It’s an engagement.’ And maybe for a millisecond, I was shocked.”

The two ended up getting engaged on the “Bachelorette” live finale. Following the “After the Final Rose” episode, Olubeko took to Instagram to break the silence on this journey.

“It’s a dream story… some days I still can’t believe it’s reality itself. But it feels like there’s a lifetime of heart and soul between us,” he began. “Through it all we have formed an unbreakable bond that has culminated in a once-in-a-lifetime story of serendipity,” he continued before adding, “And consider this just the beginning. There is much more to be had, felt and built.”
