Balvinder made his television debut with the SAB TV show Mr N Mrs Sharma Allahbadwale. In 2020, he replaced Gurcharan Singh who played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi in Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. In an interview Balvinder said
Popular is a small word. It’s an iconic show. After Ramayan and Mahabharat, it is Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on TV. To me it is the mythology of the present. It’s great to be a part of it and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to take on a role like this and be a part of the longest running sitcom. The feeling is still sinking in. I have been acting for the past few years. I did a college show called Campus in 1995.

Reportedly, Balvinder Singh Suri has been suggested by Gurcharan Singh himself to replace him in the show. In an interview, Gurcharan said,
I have met the person who replaced me earlier (Laad Singh) and told him that he should do well because he has got a very good assignment. I remember meeting him at a Gurdwara in Mumbai (Andheri, Four Bunglows). The other Sodhi (Balwinder Singh Suri) in the manner recommended by me; he had worked on our show in the Creative team and I suggested that he would do exactly that. Frankly, I haven’t seen much of the latter to give you a rating. But I think there are some people who still want me back
