Taylor Hale and Joseph Abdin have shared their decision not to pursue their relationship romantically.
The couple, affectionately known by fans as “Jaylor,” met while competing on the hit reality television show, “Big Brother,” last summer. They quickly form a friendship, with Abdin constantly defending Hale from the bullying he faces from other players while in the house. Although their feelings for each other were clear on the spot, they kept it under wraps until the show ended nearly six months ago.

Although their relationship renewed hope for those interested in interracial love, Hale announced her and Abdin’s decision to separate. Sharing a lengthy statement via his Instagram Stories, the “Big Brother” season 24 champion began:
“Joseph and I have decided to love and support each other as best friends in the future. We realize what is best for both of our futures at this time. This decision was made with love, care and recognition of how special our relationship is to both of us.”
She expressed her gratitude to fans for the “love and support” they showed her and her ex as they “navigated” their “relationship from friends, to lovers, and now back to friends.” Hale later mentioned that despite their relationship folding, she and Abdin will continue to show up for “each other passionately” and encouraged their fans to make sure they do the same.
“Is there no love lost here! We will always be a part of each other’s lives. Be it platonic or romantic, we are and always will be, Jaylor,” the 28-year-old concluded. The statement was reposted by Abdin shortly before he shared a photo of his hand adorned with a bracelet on a red surface on his Instagram Story.
The red object, which turns out to be a boat, reappears on his ex’s Story in a clip that shows the ex beaming at the camera. The Michigan native wrote, “Ending how we started,” indicating that they began their relationship by swimming in the waters while confirming their plans to remain friends as they decided to go on a cruise vacation they had planned before breaking up.
During their nearly six months together, Abdin and Hale have given viewers something to look forward to as they mark several milestones, including their 30-day anniversary. The Blast noted that the two posed for a sultry photoshoot to grace the occasion, with the first black woman winning the non-celebrity version of the CBS reality series during the interview:
“Being in a long-distance relationship with Joseph almost doesn’t feel like there’s any distance at all.”
The lawyer, who was also present for the interview, added, “Time flies, and I’m so grateful to have him by my side. It feels like yesterday that I asked him to be mine.” After their split, the exes will focus their attention on their different careers, with Abdin taking a break from social media to help his cause.

Not long after he won “Big Brother 24,” Hale had to get used to seeing his face plastered on various social media platforms. The outpouring of love touched his heart, prompting him to express his appreciation to fans — known as “Hale Raisers,” The Blast said.
The George Washington University alum revealed that such actions remind her of her assumptions, “core instincts,” and that the way she presents herself and communicates with others is “not the person” she “first understood” while at home.
Therefore, it makes it even more special for some viewers to see the real him, making him realize that he is not the “villain” he was temporarily led to believe. ICYMI, the hairdresser, has faced constant attacks at home, including being falsely accused of weaponizing the mental health of others.
Although he has his moments of doubt, Hale never wavers from being kind and ends up getting the ultimate revenge by winning the show. He not only won the show but was voted America’s Favorite Player of the season, making him the first houseguest to capture both honors.
Thanks to the feat, the former beauty pageant titleholder took home $800,000.
