Coming to her education, she was the one who attended The High School of Music & Art in Manhattan during the Second World War. At that time, it was necessary for students to visit galleries and museums as it was a part of their curriculum. When she was 13 years old, she went to her first art museum, known as the Museum of Modern Art.

While visiting this museum, she saw Meret Oppenheim’s Object (1936), which was the fur-lined cup and saucer. Bella Feldman was struck by her strong psychological reaction after seeing this work. She got dedicated to such different artwork. This is how she turned out to be a sculptor.

Her early life influences were the sculpture of David Smith and Alberto Giacometti’s The Palace at 4 am (1932). One of the earliest sculptures, Warrior in 1952 made by Bella Feldman gives tribute to Giacometti.

She got a BA degree from Queens College at the City University of New York. When she turned out to be 18 years, she got married to Leonard Feldman. She shifted to California with her husband in 1951. After relocating to California, she and her husband both accepted teaching positions. A couple has 2 children, named Nina Feldman (born in 1954) and Ethan Feldman (born in 1956).
