In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the “Batman v Superman” star addressed the infamous Grammys meme. For those who are unaware, the TV personality attended the prestigious event with his wife, Jennifer Lopez, last February.

However, the camera captured the performer with a straight face during the performance as if bored with the award ceremony. His reaction caused an uproar on social media as viewers thought the father of three was having a bad time.

“No. I had fun at the Grammys,” the 50-year-old denied the rumours. “My wife was going, and I thought, ‘Well, there’s going to be good music. It might be fun.’ At a movie award show, it’s a speech and, like, a sound-mix webinar. But I think this will be fun.”

Recalling one of the controversial moments that appeared to be an argument with his wife on camera, the “Gone Girl” actor explained what happened between him and the Latina goddess.

“I see [Grammy host Trevor Noah approach], and I was like, ‘Oh, God.’ They framed us in this shot, but I didn’t know they were rolling,” the filmmaker began.

“I was leaning on him, and I was like, ‘Once they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor.’ He said, ‘You better not go.’ That’s a husband and wife thing,” said the BAFTA awardee.

The “Pearl Harbor” star admitted that she attended an event where she was “angry,” “bored,” and “drunk.” While no one was aware of the actor’s past drunkenness, many suspected the Berkeley native was drunk at the Grammys.

“They were like, ‘He’s drunk.’ And I thought, that’s interesting,” the Hollywood veteran admitted before stating such assumptions wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t been open about his struggles with alcohol.

“That raises another point about whether it’s wise to admit addiction because there’s a lot of compassion, but there’s still an incredible stigma, which is often quite inhibiting,” explains the co-founder of the Eastern Congo Initiative. “I think it disincentivizes people from making their lives better.”

Looking at how his openness to alcohol has affected his life, the “Justice League” actor said: “I became – against my own will – one of the poster men for alcoholism and actor recovery and everything.”

Although he is an inspiration to others against his will, the humanitarian reveals that he loves helping others. “The best part about that is sometimes people call me, and they’re like, ‘Hey, can you help me?’ And it makes me feel very happy to do that,” the entertainer confessed.

However, the father of three stated that he usually advises people not to be open about their addiction because recovering alcoholics should remain anonymous. “You don’t have to be anyone’s poster child. You don’t have to tell anyone,” said the media personality.
