Ben Affleck’s new production company, Artists Equity, which he founded with fellow actor Matt Damon is set to release his first film, “Air,” and fans are eagerly anticipating it.
The film will mark Affleck’s fifth directorial success. However, it probably wouldn’t have survived without the excellent input from his wife of almost a year Jennifer Lopez, whom he recently praised for his brilliance.

“Water” will be premiered by Amazon on Saturday, March 18, at the South by Southwest film festival before a worldwide release in theaters on Wednesday, April 5. Affleck recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming film, touching on his wife’s advice for filming which he called “brilliant” given her considerable knowledge of the evolution of fashion.
When asked what Lopez added to the script, the 50-year-old noted that she is “very knowledgeable about how fashion evolves through culture as a combination of music, sports, entertainment and dance.”
He also mentioned that he helped him in “talking about the way in which part of the reason why Jordans [the shoes] very meaningful because the culture and style in America is 90 percent driven by black culture.
“Black culture has historically pioneered music, dance, fashion,” Affleck explained. “And it was then stolen, appropriated, remarketed as Elvis or whatever. And in this case, [Nike]a corporate entity run by whites, began doing business with African American athletes in terms of selling mixed identities.”
He added that executives take value from what Jordan represents and who he is, and he doesn’t believe that meaning can be “overstated.” The “Armageddon” actor explained, “They’ll go from, ‘Hey, guys, we’re good shoes,’ to ‘If Mike has it, you want it.’
Not only did JLo give him advice on his new project, but she also guided him on how to portray himself for interviews, saying he should relax, be himself, and have fun. Affleck went on to reveal that the “Love Ain’t Cost A Thing” singer realized he was often too “serious.
He remembered his beautiful wife saying to him, “Relax, be yourself. Have fun. ‘You’re just such a genuine, genuine fun guy and you look so serious.'” Affleck later added, “Do I look serious? But as in many things, he was right. And he loves me. He’s looking for me. He tried to help me. So it was like, maybe I should listen to it.”

In the upcoming film, in addition to the directorial duties of the “Gone Girl” actress, she stars as Nike co-founder and former CEO Phil Knight, while her partner Damon plays Nike shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro.
As The Blast reports, the two feature an “all-star cast,” including the incredible Viola Davis as Jordan’s mother, Deloris Jordan. Additionally, Jason Bateman stars as Rob Strasser, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Julius Tennon as James Jordan, and Marlon Wayans as George Raveling.
Although the film focuses on Jordan and his family, he does not make many appearances, as seen in the trailer.
“Air” marks a reunion for old friends Affleck and Damon, while its premise tells how Nike hoped for the NBA icon’s success, risking everything but ultimately launching a multi-billion shoe industry.
Previously, the “Good Will Hunting” stars were featured as antagonists in the historical drama “The Last Duel,” directed by Ridley Scott and grossing about $30 million worldwide on a $100 million budget.

Affleck is his wife’s number one fan and doesn’t hesitate to shout it out to the world. This was the case in a 2021 interview with Adweek when he talked about the singer’s “impact on the world.”
Such “impact on the world” surprised Affleck because he knew he couldn’t compete even if he made movies that moved people. “Jennifer has inspired a huge group of people to feel like they have a seat at the table in this country,” he explained. “That is an impact few people have had throughout history, one that I will never know and one that I can only stand and admire in reverence.”
