In her post, Frankel writes about how reality TV stars are treated negatively in Hollywood. Despite their significant impact, he says they are seen as “losers” in the entertainment industry. Frankel claims that the reality TV star “provided all the entertainment” when the writers went on strike before in 2007/2008.

The SkinnyGirl founder also gave examples of stars from popular reality shows like “The Bachelor” and “The Hills” who still receive “peanuts” as payment. This is despite people still watching “episodes from years past.” He added, “It’s complete and utter bullshit. I just thought, everybody’s talking about actors, and we’re not getting paid.”

In her Instagram post, Frankel urged her fellow reality celebrities to form their union and fight for fair treatment and value in the industry. In the caption of the post, she wrote, “Critics will say that actors have ‘talent’ that studios pay for: in fact, studios pay advertisers and advertisers pay home buyers aka women. And what do women get? Reality TV.”

After Frankel shared her thoughts on the strike, fans criticized her in the comments, saying she shouldn’t put reality TV stars on the same pedestal as movie actors and writers. They point out that reality TV celebrities have the opportunity to monetize their appearances on the show, but the actors and writers survive on the fees paid by the studios.

Frankel made another video in response to the comments, in which he emphasized the previous point. He said, “To those who say it’s fair because I can monetize it: Yes. I got the same opportunity that hundreds of others had to cash in on and failed.”

Frankel went on to say, “So through blood sweat and tears I worked** to justify a $7,250 salary for multiple episodes in 2008. Episodes that are still being used for monetization in 2023 — where two entities are making a profit and I am not. “

Despite making “peanuts” from her appearance on the first season of “RHONY,” Frankel’s salary quickly increased. By the time she left the reality TV show, she was reportedly earning $1 million per season, which is quite a lot.

Frankel first left the show in 2011 after a major feud with co-star Jill Zarin and returned in 2015. She stayed for the next four years but finally confirmed that she would be leaving the show permanently in 2019. During an interview with Diversity after his exit, Frankel talked about why he left the series.

He said, “Everyone thinks I left for money. I didn’t leave for money, I stayed for money. It’s no longer a platform to promote my business, because I’ve done it, and there’s more promoting new and questionable types of businesses than are legitimate at this point, if that makes sense.”

Frankel explained that she realized she was tired of the reality TV show and needed an excuse to get off. He added, “I’m just looking for an excuse. And I’m just ready to do it. I don’t want to be there anymore. I don’t want to be there anymore. I mean, honestly — I don’t.”
