Bethenny Frankel is weighing in on Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show– and she thinks Rihanna’s performance might be ‘all about the Benjamins!’
The “Real Housewives of New York” alumna has made a name for herself in recent years on social media, where she often shares her thoughts on current pop culture happenings.
Frankel, 52, made headlines last year with reality star Spencer Pratt when the two discussed “Friends” star Lisa Kudrow on TikTok; Frankel reportedly had a difficult encounter with Kudrow when she was a guest on Frankel’s talk show, “Bethenny.”
Rihanna is the latest celebrity to become the subject of social media musings of the former ‘Housewives! Like many of us, Frankel took to social media to share his thoughts on Sunday night’s Superbowl Halftime show featuring the “Love On The Brain” singer in the lead.
Rihanna’s performance will surely be one of 2023’s most memorable moments in popular culture; Rihanna surprised fans by walking on stage without saying a word in a tight red jumpsuit that revealed the singer’s growing baby bump! After some social media speculation, her team later confirmed that she was indeed pregnant with her second child!
Frankel Looks ‘Green’ After Rihanna’s Superbowl Halftime Show
The Bravo and social media star doesn’t seem to mind RiRi’s baby bump.
In an Instagram post shared on Monday, Frankel shared his thoughts on Rihanna’s performance. ‘Bravolebrity’s rating is… lukewarm.
Frankel focused his attention on Rihanna’s business dealings, specifically her hugely popular and profitable FENTY makeup brand.
“There’s been a lot of talk about Rihanna’s appearance,” Frankel told the camera, prefacing his thoughts with the revelation that he had seen Rihanna perform live “years ago” at the same time he saw Pink perform. Frankel went on to share that he thought Pink’s performance was better, and that Rihanna had been “less inspired as a performer…”
Frankel then went on to discuss his thoughts on Rihanna’s level of “passion” through the show, arguing that her pregnancy may have had a big influence.
“But Rihanna also touches her face with her makeup,” Frankel continued in the video, which she also posted on her TikTok. “and her whole makeup brand flew in and paid all these influencers to go to the Super Bowl, and they had their own Super Bowl,” she said.
Twitter users have brought up the possibility of a Fenty Beauty show merger following the announcement that Rihanna will headline the Halftime Show. According to W, Rihanna has reportedly been dubbed ‘The Avon Lady’ in recent years by angry fans who want to see RiRi release a new record. His last album, “ANTI,” was released in 2016.
“So, it feels like part of the deal is probably to keep all these influences,” Frankel continued. “The Super Bowl doesn’t pay people, it doesn’t pay talent, and it takes a lot of money to do it, and Rihanna’s biggest moneymaker in her life and career is Fenty. So, she touches herself during the show, she brings influence there, they’re going to make hundreds of millions of dollars in sales as a result of that journey, so I think the whole Super Bowl is a win for Rihanna, whether she performs amazingly or not, she wins the Super Bowl ,” Frankel concluded.
How Do Fans View Frankel’s Opinion?
Fans took to the comments section of both Frankel’s TikTok and Instagram reels to share their thoughts.
“He’s in business,” one fan commented on TikTok with a shrug emoji. “and it’s still entertaining,” to which Frankel replied “Right.”
“She’s beautiful, but the show is a very exciting event. No guests, no energy. Yawn…” one viewer weighed in.
“Seeing 3 different influences in TT [TikTok] at the Fenty party/concert. Suddenly, he’s making bank at the Super Bowl,” wrote another TikTok user.
“RiRi’s show is less than inspiring,” commented another TikTok user. “I was really looking forward to it and was disappointed.”
“I actually got a text from Sephora before she went ahead for the new Fenton [sic] beauty It’s football themed,” shared a viewer.
“All the songs he sings have re-entered the Billboard charts, so he’s doing something right,” shared another TikTok viewer.
On Frankel’s Instagram feed, one fan commented, “Good for him but I don’t think it’s on the level of Super Bowl entertainment.”
“Can we stop comparing and just be happy for him,” one of Frankel’s followers asked. “Let him be a moment. He’s nobody but himself so comparing him to Pink is just a messy atmosphere. Celebrate him for who he is.”
“Everyone in this comment needs to find something better to do,” another follower weighed in.
Rihanna was reportedly inspired by Beyoncé’s 2013 and 2016 Halftime!
