Additionally, the new permanent housing project — called Knowles-Rowland House — will have case managers, peer specialists, service specialists and support services, such as transportation, mental health, physical and behavioral health support.

In a press conference, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo praised the joint efforts of local officials and the Homeless Coalition in reducing homelessness in the area by 20%. Hidalgo shared that the “bigger launch” will happen in September, which coincides with when the “Church Girl” hitmaker will grace the city for her tour.

Hidalgo also highlighted Ivy Park’s founding and Rowland’s involvement in the project. In his words,

“We’ve just done the homeless count again, so an initiative like this I’d definitely support regardless of who’s behind it, but it’s particularly interesting, I think, because there are Beyonce and Kelly Rowland’s names, who, of course, have been supporting the community since After a long time.”
