Beyoncé is in the news, but not for reasons she probably knows! The legendary singer released his highly anticipated seventh studio album, “RENAISSANCE,” in July, and the world hasn’t been the same since.
While the project has done the unimaginable and set several streaming records, it has been plagued with many controversies, the most recent of which was an outcry from a freelance designer who claimed she was not fully paid for her fashion work on the album.

Beyoncé’s Personal Stylist Accused of Not Paying
In a now-deleted post on Instagram, the designer, who goes by Nusi Quero, aired his grievances on the issue. She shared a photo of the album cover art for “RENAISSANCE,” which sees Beyoncé scantily clad in a silver studded ensemble while sitting on a holographic horse.

“I wasn’t paid for this, among other things,” is written across the album cover. In the next slide, the designer decided to tell the truth, talking to Queen B’s personal stylist Marni Senofonte. She wrote, “Dear Marni Senofonte, As a stylist for B, I truly hope for the best from you and your team. But since you won’t respond to texts and emails, I feel like this is the last place I can go before legal means. to settle your outstanding balance which you have owed me and my associates for about 3 months.”
Quero went on to list the work he did for the “RENAISSANCE” project, which included the “Album B cover piece”, the second variation and the red custom 3D printed top used for the video shoot. The grieving designer claims he won’t go into the “ins and outs” of the matter. However, he expressed displeasure about how the emerging designer was treated.

“I’m not going to pretend like I’m starting a revolution here. This industry is mega fucky to the core and in the cracks. The styling job is so hard, so human, I can’t understand why or how you do what you do ,” he lamented. “But I’m sick of freelance designers like me being treated like this. We’re often the last to get paid, the last to suck the wet dirt left behind after everyone else has dried up the river that flows from OUR fountain.”

Quero shared that she wasn’t credited for the look by Beyoncé’s team and didn’t know her piece would be on the cover until it came out. He described the process of calling Senofonte as “shameful” while blaming his team’s lack of internal communication as the cause of the messy interaction.
He ended his remarks by sharing lyrics from the song “PURE/HONEY” from the album, which read, “Don’t be funny with my money, baby.”
Queen B’s Stylist Denies Claims Overdue Payments
In the comments section, Senofonte denied the accusations, writing, “Nusi, you and I both know you have been paid. At first you were given an advance that was connected to you without any problem. You then changed your bank account and gave the bank account no exact #. You were sent screenshots of all wire attempts. After your 3 wire attempts, you were sent a check to the address you provided. I have screenshots of all our conversations and failed wire attempts. Unfortunately you chose this route.”

Quero, however, maintained his claim, responding, “what? what are you talking about? unfortunately I chose this path? is that a threat? do I have to post a screenshot? check your email, pay me, and give me respect. Oh , and other designers I have lined up waiting for them too.”

In a separate Instagram Story update, Quero clarified that his rant was directed at Beyoncé. “Let me be clear… I’m not coming to Beyoncé. I’m coming to her stylist. Beyoncé is a brilliant artist who does great things for people, I’m honored she’s wearing my work.”
He continued, “Marni paid me a 50% deposit for one of the 3 jobs, (not the album cover), no more, and it took over a month to get it to us.” Quero concluded, reiterating his belief that “better communication on behalf of stylists could solve all of this.”
Beyoncé Hits Right Out of Fred Over ‘False’ Sampling Allegations
The debacle with Beyoncé’s stylist comes days after UK pop duo Right Fred Said blasted her for mistakenly sampling their song, “I’m Too Sexy,” for her hit from her “RENAISSANCE” album, “ALIEN SUPERSTAR.”
The group of sisters slammed the 28-time Grammy Award winner for being “arrogant” and not asking for their permission. However, in a rare move, Beyoncé clapped back in a statement that sets the record straight. It read, “Comments made by Right Said Fred stating that using ‘I’m Too Sexy’ in ‘Alien Superstar’ without permission is wrong and very disparaging.”

Beyoncé’s team continued, “Permission was not only granted for its use, but they publicly expressed their gratitude for being on the album. For their song, no sound recordings were used, only compositions were used. Permission was requested from their publisher on May 11 2022, and the publisher approved its use on June 15, 2022. They were paid for use in August 2022.”
