WASHINGTON – President Biden confused pop stars Taylor Swift and Britney Spears on Monday as he missed an attempted joke during the White House’s annual turkey pardon.
Biden – who celebrated his 81st birthday on Monday – said Liberty and Bell’s turkey tails, which will be spared from the Thanksgiving table, compete just as well as ticket buyers for Beyoncé’s Renaissance and Swift’s Eras tours.
“Just to get here, Liberty and Bell had to beat some tough odds – the competition,” the president began before stumbling across the punch line.

“They had to work hard, show patience, and be willing to travel over 1,000 miles,” he said. “You could say, in fact, this is harder than getting tickets to a Renaissance tour or, or, or a Britney tour.
“He’s down, it’s kind of hot in Brazil right now,” Biden added.
Swift, 33, was in Brazil and had to postpone a concert in Rio de Janeiro due to extreme heat that reportedly contributed to the death of one of her fans at a previous show.

Spears, 41, was America’s leading female pop star earlier in Biden’s political career, which culminated in Las Vegas residencies in 2014 and 2015.
His debut album, “…Baby One More Time,” came out in 1999 when Biden was a senator, followed by “Blackout” in 2007 and “Circus” in 2008, the same year Biden was elected vice president.
A large number of voters have told pollsters that Biden, who frequently misspeaks and shares inaccurate memories, is too old to hold office as he seeks a second term in next year’s election.
The President will be 86 years old if he completes his second full term and leaves office on January 20, 2029.
