Biden family moneyman Eric Schwerin expected to face foreign funds questions, scrutiny over emails during impeachment inquiry

WASHINGTON – Biden family associate Eric Schwerin appeared Tuesday at the congressional office building to testify about his role in the foreign affairs of eldest son Hunter Biden and his role in managing President Biden’s finances.

A rarely seen Schwerin kept a straight face as he arrived for an interview with House investigators looking into allegations of corruption in the first family.

Joe Biden exchanged e-mails at least 54 times with Schwerin during his vice presidency, according to previous disclosures — as then-second son Hunter Biden courted business from countries such as China and Ukraine.

Schwerin is president of Hunter Biden’s Rosemont Seneca Partners, which was created in 2009 and serves as a vehicle through which Hunter earns foreign income.

House Democrats said Schwerin also served as Joe Biden’s financial adviser during his eight years as vice president, justifying their communications and his apparent role in helping file the then-VP’s taxes.

Republicans leading the impeachment inquiry are expected to ask Schwerin whether any foreign funds flowed to Joe Biden, as well as the content of their emails, which are not fully known.

Some of the emails were sent around the same time as Joe Biden made an official trip to Ukraine as US policy chief — while Hunter earned a $1 million salary sitting on the board of natural gas company Burisma Holdings starting in the spring of 2014

Older Biden links to Burisma include attending an April 2015 dinner in DC with company board adviser Vadym Pozharskyi and Hunter friends from Russia and Kazakhstan.

Hunter Biden, joined by Pozharskyi and Burisma owner Mykola Zlochevsky, also left the Dubai rally to “call DC” shortly before one of the then-VP’s trips to Ukraine, former Biden family associate Devon Archer testified in July.

Archer said he understood the comments to mean they were calling out Joe Biden.

Zlochevsky allegedly told a paid FBI informant in 2016 that he was “forced” to pay $10 million in bribes to the Biden family in exchange for the vice president’s help in ousting Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating the company for corruption. The allegation has not been proven.

Joe Biden also interacted several times with longtime Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko, who is a “core shareholder” and participant in a Hunter Biden-chaired subsidiary called Burisma Geothermal, according to records from Hunter’s abandoned laptop obtained by The Post by a former friend business.

Schwerin has disappeared from public view under Joe Biden’s presidency as Republicans lead the impeachment inquiry. Schwerin’s deposition follows testimony last week by Biden family associate Rob Walker, who revealed that Joe Biden met in 2017 with Ye Jianming, the chairman of CEFC China Energy, who paid Hunter Biden and his uncle James millions of dollars shortly after Joe Biden left office as vice president.

Previous testimony revealed that Joe Biden, despite claiming he “never” discussed business with his son or brother and “didn’t” interact with their partners, was involved with their foreign partners in most high-profile deals abroad.

Archer further testified that Joe Biden used speakerphone during approximately 20 business meetings between his son and foreign associates.

Archer also said the then-VP had coffee during a 2013 trip to Beijing with Jonathan Li, the incoming CEO of BHR Partners — a government-backed Chinese investment fund in which Hunter holds a 10% stake through at least 2021. Joe Biden later greeted Li on speaker phone, Archer said, and wrote college recommendation letters for her children.
