Votes aren’t the only thing burning the commander-in-chief.
President Biden was seen red-faced in the US Virgin Islands on Tuesday as he prepared to return to the White House after a seven-day vacation in St. Croix.
The 81-year-old president’s new tan was on full display as he shook hands on the runway at Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in Christiansted, St. Croix, before boarding Air Force One with first lady Jill Biden.
The sun seemed to be beating down on Biden, who was beet red from his forehead to his neck — exposed by the V in his unbuttoned collar.
Biden’s sunburn occurred after a cancerous skin lesion was removed from his chest during his annual physical last February.
He previously had a benign but potentially precancerous lesion removed by a doctor.
Health officials and many scientific studies show that tanning greatly increases the risk of skin cancer and other diseases.

Most of the more than 1 million skin cancers diagnosed in the US each year are thought to be sun-related, according to the American Cancer Society.
“Premature aging is a long-term side effect of UV exposure,” according to the Food and Drug Administration, which notes that damage may not become apparent until years after a sunburn or tanning session.
“Avoiding UV exposure is essential to maintaining healthy skin,” the agency said.

During his White House vacation, Biden, his wife and granddaughter Natalie relaxed at the three-bedroom beach house of Bill and Connie Neville, whose secluded retreat in St. Croix typically operates as a VRBO rental.
This lush villa has an in-ground pool and views of the Caribbean Sea and offshore islands.
The president stayed in the same house last year during the New Year holidays and, like this time too, does not seem to be paying the rent.
Republican lawmakers slammed Biden for taking the trip to the Caribbean as the US continues to battle an unprecedented border crisis that has seen several major cities overrun by migrants crossing the southern border.
Biden revealed on Sunday that his New Year’s resolution was “to come back next year.”
