President Biden came into office promising to undo the work of his predecessor — only to quietly return to Trump-era policies and initiatives across a wide range of areas.
In January, Biden named Yemen’s Houthi rebels a “global terrorist group” and cut US funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Former President Trump took similar steps in 2021 and 2018, respectively — but Biden scrapped those efforts to boast shortly after taking office.
During that relationship, Biden steered at least $730 million to UNRWA, allowing the organization to strengthen its long-standing and widely documented relationship with Hamas.
The Houthis — famous for restoring slavery to Yemen in 2019 — have long been committed to destroying the United States.
Their official slogan reads, “Death to America Death to Israel, Curse on the Jews, Victory to Islam.”

“From day one in office, Joe Biden has arbitrarily dismantled and reversed his predecessor’s policies — including those that were undeniably effective,” said Rep. Darrell Issa, a California Republican who is investigating UNRWA’s well-documented terrorist ties.
On his last full day in office, Trump imposed tough sanctions on Russian vessels and their parent companies involved in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, a project that will double Russia’s capacity to send natural gas to Europe.
Biden reversed those restrictions in May 2021, overriding the State Department’s assessment.
Biden reimposed Nord Stream sanctions just hours before Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
The pipeline was eventually destroyed in September 2022 amid mysterious circumstances.
Some have claimed US involvement – which the US has denied.
During his 2020 campaign, Biden vowed that “not one more foot” of Trump’s wall along the southern border would be built.
He terminated the construction contract for the project.
In October, Biden made a U-turn and paved the way for construction of a new border wall amid a surge in illegal immigration — setting aside relevant environmental comments for good measure.

In another fierce campaign pledge, Biden vowed to end domestic oil drilling on federal lands.
“No more drilling on federal land, period. Period, period, period,” he pledged.
The Trump administration has approved the construction of up to three drilling sites in Anchorage, Alaska – a move that Biden rescinded on his first day in office with several climate-focused executive orders.

But with high energy prices hurting the economy, Biden reversed course in April 2022.
Insiders say the slipper will come back to bite Biden.
“Biden ran in 2020 with all kinds of hysterical rhetoric about a moral crisis and if he tries to do the same thing in 2024, Trump will have all these areas to point to and say, ‘Well if I’m that bad. man why does your administration look more like me in terms of policy every week?’ ” said GOP consultant Luke Thompson.
