“No one ever said anything about the male body,” Eilish said in a statement that would soon prove controversial on social media.

“If you’re muscular, cool. If you don’t, cool. If you are thin, cool. If you have a dad, great. If you’re fat, love it! Everyone is happy with it. You know why? Because women are good,” he continued. “They don’t give in— because we see people for who they are!”

Following the statement being released on the internet, many Twitter users expressed their disapproval, with some even labeling Eilish as “tone deaf.”

Different people assert, “This is false and a little deaf; many people go through criticism as men and women and every experience is valid.”

One fan said, “I love Billie but men get criticized all the time for their bodies. If a man is too fat, too short, or whatever, they are criticized by both men and women. I’m not going to sit here and say it’s as bad as women have had it for decades because that would be an outright LIE and a false equivalency, but men suffer from body insecurity all the time because of the unrealistic standards of attractiveness that society creates. It’s just not as socially acceptable for men to talk about it as it is for women to talk about it.”

Another added, “We’ve got a whole generation of men with serious body issues in the gym constantly, so saying this is a bit of bull.”

The artist known for his hit song “Ocean Eyes” previously spoke about his frustrations regarding sexual experiences. This came to light when she faced criticism for wearing a swimsuit at the age of 18.

“I saw comments like, ‘How dare she talk about not wanting to be sexual and wear this?!'” Eilish recalled to Dazed magazine in 2020. “There were comments like, ‘I don’t like her anymore because as soon as she turns 18 she’s aw—-.’ Like, dude. I can’t win.”

Prior to the interview, the singer explained that her preference for loose clothing stems from the notion that she can avoid sexual intercourse by not showing off her body.

“No one can have an opinion [on my body] because they don’t see what’s underneath,” Eilish told Teen Vogue in 2019. “No one can be like, ‘she’s skinny,’ ‘she’s not skinny,’ ‘she has flat–,’ ‘she has fat-.’ Nobody can say that because they don’t know.”
