Billie Eilish is tired of people’s interest in her sexuality, especially when there’s more than she’s interested in!
Over the weekend, the “What Was I Made For” singer vented her anger at a certain media outlet after she was asked about her sexual preferences in an interview. The entertainer shared a warm post about her unexpected “journey,” asking reporters to focus on what’s important and not her love life.
Billie Eilish Slams Magazine For ‘Coming Out’ At Event
On Sunday, the “Bad Guy” hitmaker shared a carousel of images from his time at this year’s Variety Hitmakers Brunch in Los Angeles. The event, held the day before, featured media personalities rocking belts designed with silhouettes of two women on their knees.
However, the indecent belt buckle wasn’t the highlight of the post, with Eilish calling out the event’s organizers in her caption for forcing her out. During his red carpet appearance, a representative of Variety quizzed the 21-year-old about his sexuality.
The interviewer wanted confirmation of the California native’s passion for women, something the “You Should See Me in a Crown” musician had highlighted in his cover story for the magazine’s “Power of Women” issue.
While she calmly handled the situation on the red carpet, Eilish didn’t sing the same song in her Instagram post. The seven-time Grammy winner insists that she does not like being cornered to address her sexual choices and hopes that media outlets focus on the important subject. Requesting her privacy, the songwriter passionately wrote:
“Thank you Variety for my award and also celebrating me on the red carpet at 11am instead of talking about other important things. I like boys and girls leave me alone about it, please really who cares about the ‘what am I made of?'” trend.”
Eilish’s anger is understandable as the 21-year-old confirmed that she never intended to address her sexuality in her cover story for the magazine. In her red carpet interview, shared by DiversityThe “Happier Than Ever” hitmaker expressed no interest in coming out, saying:
“I kind of thought, ‘Isn’t it obvious’? I didn’t realize people didn’t know. I don’t really believe in it. I was just like, ‘Why can’t we exist’? I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I don’t talk about it. Damn.”
“But I saw the article, and I was like, ‘Oh, I think I’m out today.’ Well. It makes me happy because I don’t think people know, but it’s good that they do,” the Billboard Music Award winner continued, adding: “I’m for those girls.”
Fans Agree Billie Eilish Was ‘Cornered’ To Address Her Sexuality
Following the “Bury a Friend” singer’s post, her followers took to the comments section to raise hell against the magazine. Many supported the media personality’s perspective, agreeing that the channel had forced him out.
“They must have cornered him, damn it. Celebrities especially feel they owe it to everyone to ‘come out,’” claimed one fan. Another echoed the same sentiment, writing: “SOMEONE should make a rule that interviewers don’t ask about celebrities’ SEXUALITY.”

“LOVE you, Billie. I agree with you 100. I’m weird, but we don’t need to suddenly announce it to validate ourselves. We should be. Thanks for talking about that,” a third praised the chart-topper. A friend of Eilish’s lover called out the media for ignoring her wishes with the comment:
“He’s said many times that he wants to live a private life, and you’re going to keep putting s— on blast trying to be a ‘fan.’”
More commenters slammed the interviewer, with one claiming they would “Kms if I were the interviewer.” Another wrote, “Well, because they ran out of money to ask that. People are too obsessed with that kind of thing.”
One fan praised the Oscar winner’s actions towards the media outlet, saying: “Keep your head up, Billie. I am so proud of you for the way you handled this. God D— can someone let this girl ALIVE!!!????”
A few weeks before her red carpet exit, Eilish filed a lawsuit against a male stalker who tried to break into her home. The 21-year-old said he had suffered “severe and significant emotional trauma,” including fear for his safety and that of his loved ones.
“It also saddens me that (he) knows where I maintain a private residence and has visited my residence (and apparently my parents’ home as well) trying to find me,” the media personality said in her lawsuit before explaining how the man visited her place around 2:12 am on November 4th.
