Bindi Irwin has given her first television interview since receiving an endometriosis diagnosis earlier this year, discussing her life dealing with pain before discovering the condition.
Despite suffering from chronic pain, the conservationist kept moving forward, achieving notable accomplishments such as winning “Dancing with the Stars”, getting married, and becoming a mother to her daughter, Grace Warrior, with her husband, Chandler Powell. While all this has given her varying degrees of success and achievement, Bindi has opened up about her fear of miscarriage during her pregnancy.
Bindi Irwin Expresses Gratitude For Carrying First Pregnancy To Term
Beginning in her teens, Bindi revealed she had experienced unexplained pain, including cramps, fatigue, and nausea. However, the doctors she consulted at the time were unable to identify the cause of these symptoms and often dismissed her concerns.
Desperate to find answers, he underwent various tests, such as MRI, cancer screening, CT scan, CT scan and more. It was at this point that she found out that she and Chandler were expecting their first child together.
Looking back on her pregnancy with Grace, who was born on March 25, 2021, the 25-year-old shared that she often worried about miscarriage because of the physical pain she experienced throughout the period. Bindi elaborated in an interview aired on “Good Morning America” saying:
“It’s just going to be an incredible pain in my side. And I would think that I lost our beautiful daughter. I have no idea what happened. And now I have an answer. But at that time I was afraid every day that I would lose our beautiful daughter.”
Bindi emphasized how lucky she and her man are to have Grace, saying, “For me and Chandler, we are very lucky to have Grace. Many women can’t get pregnant because of endometriosis.”
In August, during his initial announcement after getting his diagnosis, The Blast reported that zookeepers explained:
“I was tested for everything. Every tropical disease, Lyme disease, cancer, you name it. I had every blood test and scan imaginable. It’s so hard because you feel like it’s inevitable. You don’t know what’s wrong with you, and then when people tell you ‘It’s all in your head’ or ‘you’re hormonal’ or ‘just have a cup of tea, lie down,’ you end up feeling so alone because there are no answers.”
Bindi realized the urgency of her situation when an episode of severe pain in August 2022 left her immobile on the ground, curled up in the fetal position. This horrific incident prompted his decision to undergo a laparoscopy, a minimally invasive procedure designed to diagnose and treat conditions in the abdomen.
The procedure eventually confirmed that Bindi was indeed struggling with endometriosis, a reproductive disorder characterized by the growth of uterine tissue outside the uterus, leading to cramps and chronic pain.
The Irwin Family Is Committed To Perpetuating Steve’s Memory
MEGA
In September 2016, Steve Irwin met a tragic end while filming a documentary, stabbed in the chest by a stingray. Since then, his family has devoutly defended his legacy by tirelessly promoting animal welfare and conservation efforts.
That sense of duty came full circle when Bindi, along with her mother Terri and brother Robert, hosted a gala dinner in honor of the late television personality at the luxurious SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
The mother of one caught a glimpse of the event, recording and sharing a selfie with her husband on her Instagram page. As The Blast noted in May, the couple looked happy and excited as they smiled for the cameras. Adding more sweetness to the mix, Bundi captioned the shot:
“My appointment with the #SteveIrwinGala ?. @chandlerpowell Thank you for being such a supportive, kind, amazing person that I love with all my heart. Tonight is so special. More pictures to come….”
The man of the day responded with an equally moving message in the comments section, typing, “I love you so much. I had the most amazing and beautiful date ❤️ I’m the luckiest man alive.”
In another social media post, the “Bindi the Jungle Girl” alum focused on the playful side of her family. He posted a short clip featuring his brother in time to the beat of Van Galen’s 1984 song, “Jump.” With this lighthearted post, he wrote, “Wait… @robertirwinphotography #SteveIrwinGala” in the caption.
