The body of a missing software engineer who recently moved to San Francisco to start a job at Netflix was found floating in San Francisco Bay last week as his cause of death was revealed.
The badly decomposed body of Yohanes Kidane, 22, was pulled from the waters northeast of the Golden Gate Bridge Tuesday morning after a passing boat spotted his body and flagged down the Coast Guard, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.
Her death was ruled a suicide, the sheriff said.
Kidane, of Webster, NY, disappeared on August 14 when she was last seen leaving her San Jose apartment in an Uber just weeks after she moved across the country for a show on the streaming giant.
The Cornell University graduate’s body recently showed signs of “advanced decomposition, prolonged exposure to the aquatic environment and significant destruction,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators were unable to identify the body, which was brought without any form of identification.
The coroner positively identified the body as that of Kidane on Thursday and immediately notified the young engineer’s family.
The coroner later determined the cause of death was a combination of blunt force trauma and drowning and the manner of death was suicide, the sheriff said.

Kidane’s wallet, cell phone and backpack were found near the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center after she went missing. His photo data shows that he was on the bridge for most of the night he disappeared.
He was only in his second week on Netflix when he disappeared.
His family and friends are desperately searching for him after he reportedly told a friend he had a disturbing experience in a ride-share car just two days before he was last seen stepping into a car with an Uber sticker.

She reportedly said the driver had taken her in a roundabout way to her apartment, insisting they went through Oakland making the recent graduate hesitant to rideshare alone again.
Kidane’s loved ones started a GoFundMe campaign that garnered more than $100,000 in donations and a search task force.
“We want to bring him home. I need my child. I need my son,” Kidane’s mother Mehret Hana Beyene told KTVU last month.
“He’s a good guy who has a bright future, loves his family very much.”
