Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Very Close To Settling Divorce After 7 Years

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s contentious divorce looks set to finally come to an end after years of fighting over their shared property, particularly the French vineyard they jointly own.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the estranged couple are in the final stages of finalizing their divorce as they have filed a disclosure declaration related to their finances.

Pitt and Jolie are on track to finalize their divorce after filing separate final declarations of disclosure on Thursday, February 8. This basically means that each party has handed over all of their financial information to the other.

It’s not news that having all the financial information is key for both parties to know what a settlement or spousal support will look like in a case. For most celebrity divorces, this is usually the last filing before a settlement is reached, and both parties separate.

A source close to the situation told The Blast, that an announcement will not be made in the next week or so, but confirmed this is the final step in that direction. As you can imagine, this is a very complicated situation for both parties and their attorneys.

For the former couple, who many refer to as “Brangelina,” this comes as a relief to all parties, given that they have been fighting over a $500 million French vineyard — Château Miraval.

Jolie and Pitt had an equal share of the vineyard, but things became a dispute when the “Maleficent” actress sold her share to Yuri Shefler, owner of Russian vodka giant Stoli, although they both agreed not to sell the vineyard if they divorced.

The latest positive update on the couple’s protracted divorce comes after Pitt reportedly scored a major victory over his argument that he should have a controlling interest. A source confirmed that the actor is on track to get back the 10% stake he gave Jolie and will retain control of the property.

Before tying the knot in 2014, the couple bought the farm together, with Pitt owning 60 percent and Jolie 40 percent. However, after the union Pitt gifted Jolie an additional 10 percent as a wedding gift, making it a 50-50 asset.

In recent developments, the court has allegedly ruled that – for now – 10 percent goes into escrow until there is a final decision.

“It’s like the equivalent of escrow… it’s not a final decision,” the insider claims, “Right now, he’s keeping it 60/40 [split]…he maintains this control for maybe another year, or more.”

In July, the “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” actor accused his ex-wife of taking over the expensive vineyard.

In documents obtained by The Blast, Pitt claims, “Jolie and Nouvel are obligated not to sell interests in the private family home and wine business without (Brad’s) permission. However, they did so, secretly, through an alleged sale to Tenute del Mondo, an entity controlled by Russian oligarch Yuri Shetler. The defendant has attempted a hostile takeover of the business.”

Jolie, however, did not accept the explosive claims, with her legal team responding, “Ms. Jolie thinks that the cause of action (Brad) is frivolous, malicious, and part of a problematic pattern. Pitt’s claim that he and Ms. Jolie had a secret, unwritten, undisclosed contract for the right to consent to the sale of their interest in the property is directly contrary to the written record.”

Angelina Jolie Supports Mandatory DV Training For Judges

Apart from the former couple not seeing directly the importance of controlling Château Miraval, there are issues with the custody of their three young children – Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

Last October, the actress emphasized the need for specialized training for judges to ensure fair and informed handling of custody matters. Coincidentally, the judge presiding over her custody proceedings allegedly showed favoritism towards her ex-husband.

Jolie has met with Los Angeles Judge John Ouderkirk, who denied her children the opportunity to testify about the domestic violence they suffered from their father. Apparently, a retired private judge presided over their marriage and decided in May 2021 that they will share custody of their children equally.

As a result, the mother of six implored Gavin Newsom, In a heartfelt two-page letter, to advocate for domestic violence training to be mandated for court professionals.

An announced solution is expected soon.
