A bride in Mexico was arrested for alleged extortion on her wedding day — and taken to jail in her white dress before she could even cut the cake.
The suspect, identified by Mexican media only as Nancy N., was seen in images released Friday in a long white dress adorned with lace – as well as a pair of handcuffs.
She was arrested and taken to the Public Prosecutor’s Office when she and her husband, Clemente N., arrived at the church for their ceremony in late December.
Her future husband, whose nickname was “Ratón,” or “Mouse,” was wanted on the same charge, however, she managed to escape.
The couple has been accused of blackmailing a chicken trader on December 22 in Toluca near Mexico City.
They are also suspected of kidnapping four workers from a chicken shop.

According to the authorities, six other people were also arrested for being involved in the fraud.
One member of the group, Santiago N., is accused of “transporting the victim in a Ford Explorer pickup truck,” the state Prosecutor’s Office said.

The entire group is allegedly linked to the La Familia Michoacana criminal organization.
“The fight against extortion in the chicken and egg business has caused more than £37.2 million (MXN 800 million or about $47 million) in losses for criminal groups,” authorities said.
