“Bridgerton” star Jonathan Bailey joins the cast of “Wicked” after landing the role of Fiyero.
After Diversity teasing the news that the 34-year-old English actor is in talks to join the two-part adaptation of the musical favorite, director Jon M. Chu took to Twitter to confirm his acting news.

In the tweet, director Jon M. Chu mimicked the lyrics to the song “Dancing Through Life,” tweeting, “He’s perfect, they’re perfect. They will be perfect together. Born to be forever.” He later added, “I’m too excited to pretend this isn’t happening. We have Fiyero!!!!”
Many “Bridgerton” fans expressed their excitement in the comments. Bailey will join Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.
Jonathan Bailey Has Teased His Casting News On Instagram
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Bailey teased her casting news by sharing four photos of herself at a lake, tagging the location as Canada. “Dancing through. 🇨🇦 💚,” he wrote in the caption, using a green heart emoji.
His Bridgerton friend was quick to add a green emoji to the comment. Erivo also posted a photo on Instagram showing him standing next to his two “Evil” costars. He left some emojis – “💕🫧🫧🤴🏻🪣💦💚” – in the caption to tease the plot of the story.
“Wicked” follows the friendship between Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba, who later became the Wicked Witch of the West, when they were students at Shiz University. This takes place before the events of “The Wizard of Oz.”
The musical also follows the love triangle that occurs between the two friends and Fiyero, who is a prince and popular student at Shiz University.

Earlier this year, Erivo told E! News that the films are in production when he spoke to the outlet on the red carpet of the 2022 SAG Awards.
“Ariana and I have met and chatted and talked and built our own relationship,” he said at the time. “Because we know it’s brotherhood. We both want to be ready and willing to be there for each other.”
The big screen adaptation will be split into two films. The first is scheduled for release in December 2024, with the second following a year later in 2025.
