British family with baby hid in safe room for 9 hours as Hamas destroyed home, village

A British family living in Israel hid with their 10-day-old baby in a safe room for nine hours while Hamas burned their home and destroyed their village near the Gaza Strip, according to a report.

Aimee and Uriel Labban, UK-Israeli nationals, were living a normal life while raising their newborn son Kai in Nirim when their entire reality was upended by the violence on Saturday morning.

Along with various attacks across the Gaza Strip, Labban’s hometown was raided by Hamas terrorists, who killed the family’s dog and set their house and car on fire, The Telegraph reported.

“They kept running to the safe room. They can actually hear terrorists,” brother Russell Langer told the UK outlet. ” [The] the room was filled with smoke, so they basically lifted the baby up to the window to get fresh air.”

Labbans, along with grandmother Deborah Mintz, braved the terror for nine hours, fearing they would be killed if they tried to escape the safe room.

Langer said she kept in touch with the family through texts, learning how close the terrorist was to them and the death of the family’s beloved dog, Mickey.

Fortunately, Labbans was able to wait out the terrorists and was eventually rescued by the IDF, who escorted the family and neighbors to a shelter.

“Baby Kai seems to be fine, but [he is] slightly covered in soot,” said Langer.

Labbans’ story is just one of many suffered by Israelis and foreigners near the Gaza Strip.

Emma Segev, 50, from Eastbourne England, said her sister-in-law also tried to hide inside her house with her four children when Hamas attacked Be’eri.

But like Labban, the terrorists set fire to the house.

“Eventually the heat in the room became so intense that they thought they were going to be burned alive and ran away,” Segev told The Telegraph. “I don’t know how they got out but they were hiding in the bushes.”

It remains unclear how many foreigners have been killed or arrested as a result of Hamas attacks, but Secretary of State Antony Blinken said there were numerous reports of Americans dead and missing in Israel.
