A fitness fanatic training for the London marathon by running with a fridge on his back has been stopped by police – because they thought he had knocked him over.
Daniel Fairbrother, 34, was jogging with a 25.7kg cooler strapped to his back when he was spotted by a passing police patrol car.
The traffic unit flashed a blue light and pulled him onto the road in Stevenage, Herts.
Daniel, from Stevenage, said one of the officers then asked him what he was doing with the fridge which he named Tallulah.
The timber salesman told officers he was running the London marathon on behalf of Diabetes UK and it was part of his training.
He hopes to break the world record for running a marathon while carrying household appliances.
The current record is four hours 52 minutes held by Royal Marines Cpl Sam Hammond.

Daniel said: “I ran along with my head – it was a quiet, pitch black night apart from a car passing by when a police car did a double take.
“The road was just blue, and I looked to the left and sure enough there was a police car.
“I crossed into the middle of the road through the driver’s window and the police officer said: ‘We have to stop you because we have to think about what on Earth is going on.’
“They must be suspicious when they put a blue light on a car and stop in the middle of the road.
“They asked me where I got the refrigerator from and why I carried it like that when I told them about marathon training.”

Once he explained why he was running with the fridge on his back, he said the police joked: ‘You know if you order from Currys, they’ll deliver it for you?’”
Daniel is hoping to raise £10,000 for Diabetes UK in support of his best friend Sam, who has Type 1 diabetes who has been with him “through thick and thin”.
He got a place in a marathon with Diabetes UK and set his sights on a fridge he named Tallulah, after the bobsled in the movie Cool Runnings.
He said: “That movie was one of my favorites as a kid and they pull their bobsled at the end of the line – I just hope that I don’t have a big crash like them.”
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “We would like to wish Daniel the best of luck with his training for the marathon”.
The London Marathon takes place on Sunday, April 21. He was recalled on January 7.
